Western Force v Hurricanes 19/04/2025

The Ghost of Raelene

Way better than a loss which was on the cards but I reckon Cron will be disappointed when you look at the draw coming up for the Force. Chiefs away, blues away, Brums home, Fiji away then Tahs home. 2/5? Hopefully jag a couple BPs but might come down to watching the last rounds results when the force have a bye.

Everyone from 3 down keep falling over each other so that will help.

The force could win a game in NZ. Maybe the blues. The travel is out of control though. Someone on the podcast had a slight whinge at the way the games are rostered and that the tahs had to fly from Perth to NZ. Hahaha ma plz. The tahs have travelled about 1/6 of the force so far this year.

I think possibly 4/5. 3/5 is well on. The blues can be beat. Fiji, with the force defence they can win this game. Brumbies at home would go close but I would prefer to play the brums at home than the hurricanes. Tahs will be bottom of the ladder by then

Frenetic viewing but ultimately fairly brainless ploddy stuff.

I missed about 10 minutes solid in the 2nd half as I was consumed by gales of laughter at the Harkin bloke opting to throw the ball infield rather than continue about 2 more steps to the tryline to score a certain try.
Mate that game was a f#cken contest. Dont downplay it. Great physical contests result in turnovers. Those teams gave it all.

Watch Potters grubber again. If he doesn't kick that, he gets a massive shoulder charge off hurricanes 11 and it's probably a yelow and maybe penalty card. Potter is so quick I think he had already beaten the canes 12. Wish he held onto it and had a crack.

Don't listen to that sad condescending bloke. It was a cracker of a game. The breakdown wasn't reffed which resulted in way to many turnovers to the canes but the handling errors were low and it was a physical fast encounter.

Neither team knew how to win it. If you Force fans can't see that then you're even more one-eyed than I am.

Force fans. Elated with a draw.

Explains a lot.

You just keep that 6th spot warm cos there's a murderously handsome outfit from Auckland who are about to relieve you of it in a fortnight from now

The reality of the fact that the Force are better than your rugby team is indeed crushing.

Now I feel obliged to step in and correct the record. That was a bloody brutal game. The physicality at the breakdown and off the ball was huge. If there were errors....it was because it was a f@rken war out there.

The Force competed and said......nahh...nahhh Canes....not on our Field. We will, and we did match you. No rolling over. The Force in 25 is competing and fighting for position on the ladder. Dont take us for granted. Go You Force!

Geez I really enjoyed the game (not unusual I know), and while wanting my Canes to win, I thought it was probably fair score. Even if I didn't that's what it is anyway :D . By geez the game was worth watching to see the Kirifi/Tizzano tussle I thought. As I said at halftime I quite liked the fact that Murphy just let chaos rule at breakdown (bit like O'Keefe). But as always I never into refs, and genuinely don't mind they all ref slightly different.
I still not keen on the extra time for draw, because as we again see a draw is still a result.
And the 2 happiest teams will be Chiefs and Brumbies, as they get these 2 teams after playing extra time, and they never really moved a lot on the points table.

Also would add, aftermatch interviews, I really enjoy captains that don't spout usual platitudes, and give opinion of game. As Kirifi said, both teams had parts of excellence, and both would be feeling disappointed they didn't finish in front.

Aren't the Force in NZ for a couple of weeks ? I know they have to do a bit of extra travelling, but when they are based in the back of beyond there it can't really be helped can it? Ok the facts are that the east coast of Aus/NZ teams probably have an advantage in travel, but they can't move away to make it even.
