Western Force 2025

Regular reminder that RA can't force any player to play for any team, can't offer more money to any individual Super Rugby licence holder, guaranteed payment for the Rebels players whether they played or not, and had no control over the Force contracting strategy, but did at the Waratahs.

A lot of the Rebels players were still on contract when they were "directed" to the Tahs and Reds. A lot of those contracts will be up now so hopefully we can snare some over here for next year.

Who were these players that were "directed?"

And who are these available players whose contracts are now up?

If any of these players had asked Rugby Australia if they could be released from their contract so they can sign a new contract with the Western Force I think Rugby Australia wouldn't have been able to sign the release any faster.

We don't need to go into all this again but when the Force were cut 90% of the players ended up at the Rebels. When the Rebels were cut, 1 player ended up at the Force. The Tahs had to cut good players from their list to make room for the Rebels players. The Force should have been given salary cap concessions to help them sign more of the players and form a competitive team. The Tahs are owned by Rugby Australia and their CEO is a former player, not to mention the wallaby top up system. The whole system is geared to make NSW successful and it still doesnt work.

That’s not an accurate description of events…

Maybe start a "Western Force 2026" thread?

Reginald is gone ... I reckon you're a good candidate to oversee it.

This is a really critical step in the right direction for the Western Force's development.

The first signs of the coaches pathway starting to pay dividends, and most importantly Perth born and / or ex Western Force players starting to be able to transisition into a coaching role and ensuring valuable rugby IQ is not lost to the state.

Shouldn't be hard to beat Cron's record.
