Western Force 2024

Without knowing too much about it, I say that RL has less of a local base than RU.

NRL won't be too bothered either way.

My understanding is that there are just 5 senior clubs at the top metro level.

I guess I was sort of wondering what sort of base the NRL would be pulling from going forward. I understand that strong junior pathways go a long way to sustained success in that sport.

I have a league club right near me and they get a smattering of punters at a game on Saturday arvo, but the crowds and general support of the rugby comp here in Perth is considerably greater. League hardly gets a mention.

Six WF players at a Rehab Session at North Cott Surf Club.
I think these are the only players being treated for more than just a "niggle"
They all appear to be coming on well.

WF Rehab.JPG

Bayley Kuenzle - Knee (Really like the smile. Looking forward to his return next year)
Vaiolini Ekuasi (I think) - ?
Reesjan Pasitoa - Shoulder (looked good on Tuesday)
Kane Koteka - Hamstring (looked good on Tuesday)
Mitch Watts - Niggle (as put in a full training session with Sth Africa squad last Tuesday)
Atu Moli - Hips (Looked good on Tuesday)

I continue to be impressed by the rehab/recovery program at the WF as the young men and women appear to be looked after extremely well.

Unless that's an old picture I don't think it's Ekuasi - he turned out for Auckland in the NPC yesterday:

These things have a habit of evolving quickly, dont write anything off, PNG was on/off about 20 times before they were able to convince the Fed Govt to cough up hundreds of $millions

They'll be there. Just kicking the tree for a "license fee" to fall out which others didn't have to pay....

Show us more money and your'e in. They want the teams, they want the time slot and they want the presence.

Article from yesterday on Fox League about NZ wanting a 2nd side which is dumb. Warriors get a following once a decade and the recent crowds have been to support Tonga not necessarily a NZ side. Maybe in the mid 2030s...

"As it stands, the NRL are reportedly focused on finalising a deal with the Western Australian government for a franchise to be based in Perth. The Perth team will potentially be introduced into first grade in 2027, followed by Papua New Guinea who have already struck a $600 million deal with the Australian government."
