Hmmm,
Holmes playing 10 for La Rochelle, 3rd top point scorer in the Top 14, starting every game, running the backline against quality opposition every week...
Strange how his skill set has changed a month after leaving the Force !! ...Wake up Force, you have shot yourself in the foot once again. Holmes is the dynamic 10 you needed... Try watching La Rochelle v Castres... You might learn a thing or two about running rugby and letting a 10 do their thing...It is easy to blame the 10 s when then whole team was dreadful last year , starting at the top...let's face it results speak for themselves...

Shush now, Foleys busy rearranging the deck chairs. We've recruited a geriatric kicking 10 and we're going to play negative rugby, punish mistakes with penalties and nearly scrape into the top 8. It's gonna be a smashing year and Foley will be appointed "Coach For Life" at the end of it. Force fans will then meet en masse at the completion of the season at NIB and have a big party where we all drink The Kool Aid ala Jonestown and the franchise is never be spoken of again.

Yeah. You guys are grim. Who doesn't look better playing in France/UK?

Holmes was serviceable but he wasn't a long-term option at Super Rugby level. He was given opportunities and some of his performances although not lacking in courage were not good enough. You can't blame Foley for that.

You happy sacks should start a Force positivity thread.

looking for your positive comments Oztimmay?
You would need to be on that famous River to truely feel good about where the Force are headed....( De Nile)

The opportunities you speak of where few and far between,he mostly came off the bench it takes time to develop a 10, think Debrocini /Foley, both have had heaps of poor games in the early stages of their careers but the coaches still backed them, a 10 needs to build confidence, to do that they need to play regularly... They also need some running players to give the ball too who can do something with it! It is much easier for a 10 playing for a good team!
Your opinion is at odds to what other top level coaches think of Holmes skills.
Holmes is getting real opportunity now with good results...time will tell.
Ps it is not that easy to look good in France...watch Cooper playing for Toulon for example!

Hey guys,

We are looking for a few folks to write a few previews and match reports on Force games this year.

If you think you can do three previews and match reports during the year or even a couple of each, please respond in this thread or send me a convo.

PS - if you care to write on other things such as Team of the Week, and 5 things from the last round, or similar, please put your name forward also.

Zack Holmes has been voted as one of the top 10 transfers so far this year. It just goes to show that game time and a coach who believes in him would have made a good number 10 for the Force.

Things already looking grim for the force.

Faulkner and Van Wyk both to miss at least the firat 6 matches and Burton out for the season....

Lucky you have the Rebels. We're experts in rubbing salt into your wounds :)

Losing Faulkner really does expose you in the front row.

Been watching them train most of this week. Jono Lance looks comfortable playing at 10. Excited watching the new guy, Masirewa i think his name is, big unit but also very quick, has good ability to make players miss. Also Adam Coleman looks like a leader.

Shaker, how did Peter Grant look at 10? Who was playing 9?
He looked alright. I think Lance just looks more comfortable with the new way the boys are playing. Louwrens and Prior were getting equal shares at 9, Mathewson should be back for the trials though.

Any insight on how the big unit Arnold is looking at training? will Walton finally get a look in off the bench or is Richie the next 'big thing'

Based purely on Richie's performances for QLD Country, i would be surprised if he made his super rugby debut in 2016.
