How is Big Steve Mafi getting on for you guys, saw him play the other week and he looks like he is enjoying the hard ground and running rugby.

We miss him over here. Esp with Croft injured again.

Interesting he is playing at lock here he played more @ 6 (although played often at 6).

Hopefully he can be one of the few products of NH rugby to be a success in super rugby. (I know he originally started in Aus but he was really made in Leicester).

Knuckled down really well and was outstanding last week.

Burton, Godwin, Koteka, DHP, Hoskins etc + all the U20s last year.

The talent coming out of WA is excellent, and to me is very bloody exciting.

If Perth becomes a genuine Rugby state, Australia is will be ridiculously well off.

Consider the comparison of the AFL to make Brisbane & Sydney AFL homelands.

WA has been a far better success, in terms of producing players than either of those states in a far shorter period of time. Not to mention with a whole lot less money.

Yes WA is doing great in terms of developing players...
In saying that though WA is yet to pass ACT as the third best production region for players in Australia. Im fairly certain ACT still has more players then WA, yet more importantly ACT has an established talent identification and development network through the schools and clubs which WA is yet to emulate.

I''m not sure they they do ^ (ACT players Vs WA players). But I haven't looked at the numbers.

Given that ACT was clearly the number three production line 10 years ago, with a well established schools and club network, it's pretty encouraging to see WA imminently leapfrog them.

We're getting there and the signs for the longer term are good. Young blokes are growing up wanting to play for the Force and that's a good thing. Some more success now will only help that.

WA is definitely progressing, is it about to overtake ACT In terms of producing professional players? No not immediately however overall growth in juniors means this should inevitably occur in the next 5 - 10 years. Success from the Force would encourage further growth but critically the pathways need to be available and fluid for these young players, this is where the U20's program and NRC is going to really improve Australia's production line..

Players from other states won't need to have to join a Shute Shield or Premier Grade team to be recognised and offered a super rugby contract.. U20's and the NRC should supplement this need.

If you look at the recent under 20 AUS BarBar's team it's still more ACT boys then WA and VIC..

Its currently being played ? It wasn't an insult, just that 12 of the team selected for BarBar's team are ACT boys.

I think TOCC was genuinely asking who won... But I could be mistaken.

Following on from the conversation in the Force vs Bulls match day thread and lack of game management at 10. Would it be worth the Forces time signing someone like Jono Lance?

He may not be the most creative player but he can tackle, pass and kick and has a level head which is what the force need.

We need a class player at 10. If we could I'd say get Giteau back but that probably isn't realistic.

Unfortunately we have shot ourselves in the foot this year. If we had built on last years results and put 2 strong seasons together, the Force would be a far more attractive destination for recruiting players. With the way this season is going/gone, we will be viewed as the 'same old Force' which is a disservice to the team and organisation, but unfortunately the reality of the outside perception.

Whilst I applaud the work the Force has done in developing a pathway from junior rugby through to playing Super Rugby and bringing WA players through, there is a fine line to walk between playing local content not quite up to standard and going out and landing a big fish star quality player.

10 is such an important spot on the team and I'm not sure either Sias or Holmes are long term solutions to unlock the attack for the Force. The boat has sprung a leak this year and I'd hate to see more bad results see a few of our quality players consider jumping ship.

We may not play finals.....AGAIN.....this year but it is imperative that the team finish strong and get as close to a 50/50 record and launch again in 2016. Has all the 10 year hoopla been a distraction this year??

I think our first priority needs to be to retain McCalman. Then find a decent 10. The biggest issue is the only really decent backup 10 in any of the other Aussie Super sides, plays 12 for the Brumbies.

Otherwise the Rebels have 3 ok 10's in Debresceni, Hegarty and Harris.

After that your scouring for a good youngster, returning aussie or international.

JOC (James O'Connor) and Beale need not apply.

Barnes may be an option, depending on his relationship with Foley. What you really need is someone relatively established that Holmes can learn from, it was great you brought him back home but I wonder how much better he might be if he'd had one more year under larkham's coaching.
