Interesting that two of the 9s on the Force roster are playing 10 for their clubs (Sheehan & Swanepoel) or has Swanepoel been let go?

I am pretty sure that Swanepoel was retained as their No 3 No 9 behind Sheehan and Turner. However Turner is out for the S15 and Stannard has come in. I suspect Stannard will get the bench spot behind Sheehan.

I hope that the Force play McCalman at 8 next year, with Hodgo at 6 and Pocock at 7. Brown to bench to cover all three back row spots.

So we miss out playing the Cheetahs and the Chiefs, but get the Bulls and Crusaders at our home ground, rounds 10 and 11. Not a terrible draw I suppose.

Was watching Willie Ripia in the ITM cup on Saturday, had a reasonable game after kicking his first two restarts in to touch. Looking forward to the season, come on February.

He's a Steady Eddie player who won't make a lot of linebreaks but he looks like a good facilitator. I'm backing him.

Can any force people tell me if Kyle Godwin is close to playing Super Rugby? Seen him play as a schoolboy and he looked very skillful.

I think he has a tier 1 academy contract now, but dont quote me.
He would still only be 17 this year I believe, 18 next, so might be a couple of years off yet.

From the report:

New Western Force head coach Richard Graham has set his recruiting targets for the 2011 Super rugby competition. Top of his list are a back-up playmaker and two outside backs with a versatile second row/back row forward and a front-rower in his sights.

The Force have shown interest in North Harbour fly-half Mike Harris who is eligible to play for Australia, and second-rowers Leon Power, who is with Taranaki but also has Australian eligibility, and Manly's Greg Peterson, who is in the Waratahs academy.

Peterson - is there really any chance he won't be signed by the Tahs? They have one spot in the roster, correct?

His interview with the clubrugby had him stating he wasn't ready for S15 yet and is more interested in building himself up at the moment.

Good call. I think he wouldn't do himself any favours by playing Super rugby just yet.

He'd be better off backing himself to get a Tahs contract in the next 1-3 years rather than rushing off to Perth underdeveloped.

I think it's strange to bag one of the better 3Ns performers just because he does modelling on the side, but that's just me.
