In 2007 Jake White'sn timing was perfect. Despite and rightfully a lot of flak he took his soldiers out of the 3 Nations Away Leg and eventually got his reward.

That word "player burn out" is going to play a massive role in next year WC. 2011 see the start of the S15 , so the Wallabies is init aswell.

The last two years showed that the Tri Nation is about getting your form and try and keep it through the competition. This year the All Blacks had the luxury, 2009 it was our turn, next year its the Wallabies turn starting at home. Luckily its only a home and away competition. The real problem is that the WC starts three weeks after the Tri Nations ends, not enough time to freshen your big soldiers for the real thing.

The S15 starts on 18 February and runs till June meaning no 8 weeks away like Prof Noakes prescribe.

8 weeks rest from now till February aint going to do the trick, 8 weeks closer to the tournament may do the trick and giving them a run of 4 to 5 matches to get match sharp more spot on. This will have some mayor flakking from all over to do this.

I think a smarter way to reduce games (I dont agree with resting players btw) would be to rest players only in Australian v Australian S15 games and make it even, sit out both starting players in the same position from each team. This equals the disadvantage but wont affect our performance against other conferences

SA is always more difficult compare to NZ. We dont do the central contractting, more provincial meaning the franchises pay the salary and its all about the provincial coaches good faith with the national coach to manage this players. Difficult but that needs to be done.

I imagine if any of the Super15 teams are doing poorly, we may see a few of the bigger stars getting a rest towards the end.

In 2007 they said the AB's & wallabies were under done "not enough battle hardened players" that's why they lost to France & England.

I think next year will be different again with the start of the super 15 season meaning more games for these players. Someone who knows more than me is going to have to decide the right balance between keeping the players match fit and ready to go, and being overplayed and burnt out.

I read somewhere that SA will only play half the 3N games with a first choice squad next year.

Paarl is this true?

Pretty sure it was a rumour for the 3 Nation first part away leg. Thats what they did back in 2007 , this is differense now, will be good if we can knock the All Blacks back at home a few months before the WC. Pretty sure they wont heal from that.
