Bitterly disappointed.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I'm shattered.
Know how you feel mate - we've been there ourselves.

Think Tahs fans can take some comfort from that game, considering all the injury problems. They looked strong all night.

Reds have plenty to work on, backline was static most of the time unlike last year when runners were hitting the ball at pace. Hopefully Harris settles in.

The commentators raised a good point - where will Harris move to when QC (Quade Cooper) comes back? With a kicking percentage like that, he has to stay in the team, but who do you drop?

He was playing inside centre before injuring he's knee playing for North Harbour.

Bitterly disappointed, but well done Queensland.

I feel for McKibbin, but he should be dropped next week. You don't kick possession away with 23 seconds left on the clock. I could see it unfolding and watched in horror as he broke away and then kicked. The Tahs were out on their feet. They'd put everything in last 5 minutes to keep possession and regain it again.

There was such a good vibe in the stadium with 2 minutes to go. It hasn't been there at a Tahs game for a while. Such a shame.

... But then I got to act out my inner child and run on the field and kick the footy. I felt better.

Angry Seahorse, you were so close, ("Reds by 5")! I had them winning by around 15, however, the players lacked the confidence (or was it the ability to score points?), that I had! Well done you!!

I think you guys are being a little tough on Harris, he threw a couple of lovely passes in the first half which led to breaks along with a couple of nice steps, also creating breaks & I liked the way he took the ball to the line.
I have no sympathy for the Tah's either, I haven't forgotten going down to them at Lang Park in the last minute 2 years ago.

Harris will grow into his role. Maybe we are expecting too much too soon from the bloke. He has some hard shoes to fill remember plus round one is always a bit shakey.

I don't feel sorry for the Tahs but they have some pretty fair and decent supporters on this forum and I do feel sorry for them.

You don't pick him in the 22?!
Sure he made a mistake but is it worthy to drop from the 22? I do not think so. The goal is that people learn from their mistakes and not to drill their noses further into the ground to the point they want to leave and go play rugby somewhere else. Making mistakes is just to show one is still human. Everyone makes them.

I said plenty on the blog, but want to add one thing:

I wouldn't be so hard on McKibbin. Yeah it was a bad decision but Kingston and Carter were both outside him SCREAMING for him to kick it. In the rush of energy in the final minutes he listened to them and kicked it. I bet he regrets it plenty now, and I hope Carter and Kingston also get a boot in the backside.

Also some heat needs to go on the Tahs backs for leaving the gaps in midfield, and Alcock for missing the tackle on Shipperley.

Also, if they'd given away less penalties they would have won.

He would have been hailed a hero if that kick had come off.

I bet the Wallaby players in the Reds were thinking "He's not going to do a Stephen Donald is he?...Oh yes he is!!!! Game on...."

Was a little surprised by Kafers comments afterwards, saying how the Reds have a further to improve then the Tahs in the sense that maybe the Tahs were better on the night.

I guess expectations are higher on the defending champions, but its still no mean feat to beat NSW at home, especially after the last time the Reds won there was 2003

All will be forgiven, if he can do a "RWC 2011 final Stephen Donald" in a Super Rugby final for the Tahs and produce a match winning moment.

If it went out, it goes to a line out. There was still time. The Reds win it and then they have possession. The Tahs are put back under unnecessary pressure. Stupid. In my books that's up there with Dunning's drop goal.

I was far from perfect in my mediocre playing days, but I'm near perfect yelling from the stands with the benefit of hindsight ;)

Addition: Positive from the game was the losing bonus point and no serious injuries for either team.

Personally, I don't see how McKibbin's decision is justifiable. It was fucking dumb. Why make excuses for it? The rub of the green in a tight battle so often depends on rising to the occasion or failing to do do. McKibbin fits the latter tonight and that's the way it goes.
