He pulled his hammy against the Chiefs.

He is expected to be available next week against the Stormers.
So its just 2 games in SA and back home? Where SA teams have time travel and do 4? Imagine if the conference system wasn't there how a bad trip over there can spoil your chances very early and very quickly

Well, you only play 4 of the 5 teams in the other conferences so you're going to have two away games and two home games each year against each country.

You guys play 4 away games so you only have to travel once. Obviously that would make no sense for the Aussie teams because the travel is in opposite directions. Also, travel from Sydney or Brisbane to New Zealand is shorter than from Sydney or Brisbane to Perth.

I was actually referring to old days where teams like the Cats went over early and lost first two lost next to by a huge margin then crawled the bottom of the log for rest of the tournament. At least you guys play the two go home train at your own facilities and swim over to NZ a day before as SA teams have to play 4 using facilities provided by them and have to look left right and center for sneaky photographers hiding somewhere. Plus you must understand us Japies get home sick very quickly! We miss our mommy's

Lucas has a nice pass but he takes two steps. Every. Single. Time.

And the steps seemed much more pronounced against the Bulls than they were earlier. Sometimes there were 3 steps and diagonally backwards

I didn't think he did much wrong, but I don't think he did enough to get into the starting side either. I just assume that Cheika prefers McKibbin - he's certainly tougher and more robust, although his pass is weak for this level.

I thought that Volavola went quite well though for around 20 minutes against good opposition. He's still raw, but the pressure of the situation didn't seem to get to him.

Again use of the bench could be crucial, hopefully McKibben brings his kicking boots this week. Also looking forward to seeing Betham make a big impact, he has done ok so far but would like him really take the game by the scruff of the neck like he did in the ITM Cup.

The Saffer teams cross both the Indian Ocean and Tasman Sea twice. Most Australian and New Zealand teams cross the Tasman Sea four times. Without listing a detailed total of km travelled I'd wager most Australian and NZ sides rack up more distance than Saffer sides do. Rassie, did you know the Force travel to New Zealand TWICE to complete their NZ commitments this year? That's four times from Perth to EnZed.

Saffer sides complaining about travel just doesn't hold up. If you're not convinced I'll do a total of km travelled by each team, but only once.

Mate you can swim to NZ. You do not have to stay away a long amount of time and drink some beer that sounds something you will find in a sex shop ot practice in the mud for weeks. Not like Australia and NZ are 8 time zones apart. Just look at Sharks last year. You think that was fun? I am not complaining about it. Playing in Australia is not so bad these days as Australia share twin cities with SA like Durban - Brisbane, Perthfontein - Bloemfontein, Pretoria - Any Bush in Australia etc etc

I'd said a few times before the Bulls that the biggest hole in Foley's game was his general play kicking. That was proven to be the case at Loftus. He does, however, need to add that dimension. I hope we see some more tactical kicking this week, because Foley needs runs on the board in that regard or teams will start trying to force him to kick more and more.

Foley is still basically a Sevens player. He plays well close to the tackle line, can put guys through gaps if they aimed themselves right and he can surprise opponents by running himself as he did at the Cake Tin.

Now and then he does something useful with his foot like slotting a goal to win a game or to cross-kick to someone to score a try but, like a lot of Aussie flyhalves, he can't make the ball talk off his boot, let alone make it sing.

He won't be getting job offers from European clubs. They like fellows like Brock James or Compass Parks who can get their team around the park, then kick the goals - because for 3 months of the season you can't play the rugby there that we play here.

You need such a game at Loftus too to get out of your territory otherwise Steyn, or some clone of his, will keep you pegged back and force you into making mistakes in the wrong real estate.

Foley is only a stopgap until we get an all-rounder flyhalf and that may not be for some time.

The kind of fellow we want is someone like David Horwitz or Jake McIntyre who were both at school last year. I'm not saying these guys are going to be good enough to play Super Rugby, but we should be looking at fellows with an all-round game like them, not just runners with, or passers of, the ball.

PS I have written a blog that includes a preview of the Kings game here:

Perth really struggles with distance and the hours spent travelling does affect them, but the other Ozzie sides do get a pretty sweet deal.

Distance travelled isn't that much of an issue I think. A three hour flight isn't really that taxing and guys can still sleep in their own bed, train at their own fields, drink in their own local most of the season. It much tougher if you spend 4 weeks living out of briefcase, especially if things start going wrong. On tour there are less opportunity to get things right once you start to travel. A bad four week tour can ruin a team, while two tough weeks is only blib in the bigger scheme of things.

Exactly. Can't get a better explanation than that.

But we are not complaining cause it have been discussed and its Super Rugby. Its not suppose to be easy. I remember in the start of the tournament the SA sides were horrible travelers. It was like having to go World Cup qualifiers in the Republic of Congo where you can go over with the strongest team and get knocked over due to training on a gravel road with armed soldiers around you. I would take a trip any day to Austaliasia than having to play away games in African qualifiers for the football.

It would seem not many are getting the vibe, odds for the kings has gone up since this morning.
