Waratahs v Highlanders, Rd 1, Fri 14 6.35pm 2025

Going to be wet at Allianz this evening, which makes me even more nervous about the state of the turf.
Would be classic Australian rugby areas to have made a song and dance about fixing the training paddock turf that was responsible for all the injuries only to have the home stadium playing surface become the problem.

Just came across a group of 4 very odd looking individuals in highlanders gear. Not players. Had to ask if they're going to the game and I was told they flew over for it! Got family here so catching up at the same time but it got me a bit jazzed for the game.

Trains have been a complete disaster all day due to industrial action/lock-out notices
I was thinking about heading in, but no chance with so many services cancelled. I'd never get home.

This will impact the crowd

Was just thinking that while I wait for one of the bastards.

Automate it all and keep building the metro to fuck these people off. That’s my rant

But, if anyone is in the city just take yourself to the game instead of waiting for a train. Get on the beers and just figure it out later.

Definitely wouldn’t train in with kids etc though.

I'm much more worried that the Highlanders will just think the game is in Otago and will play the same way. Highlanders are probably the team you least want to play in the rain, they are just so used to it!

They tried to go part way there by removing the need for a Guard from the Mariyung, and that was met with strikes, mothballing of the new trains, and redesign costing an unfathomable amount of money. The RTBU is simply too influential in NSW.

Imagine having to tolerate the Waratahs and the NSW RTBU - I can see why so many Sydneysiders are miserable.

All hail the metro. If you live along it it’s so much better.

Feel bad for some station staff though. They are copping verbals from people all the time now.

They get turnover in good position, throw a pass to no one and then Lalakai kicks it away into Highlanders player who start attack again on halfway.

Edmed has to be more accurate than that if the strategy is going to be contestable kicks, this pack will be dead on their feet by half time if they're chasing over long kicks

I feel on edge watching they’re game style right now, they need to calm down and slow it down and focus on protecting ball
