Waratahs v Crusaders 16/05/25

The backs were absolute pants last night. It's no wonder the forwards kept the ball to themselves.

Edmed and Kelleway were the worst offenders. Coincidence? I think not ...

Kellaway’s point of difference used to always be that he read play well, made good decision, worked hard off the ball and rarely made mistakes.

He doesn’t seem to be that player anymore.

Time to play some kids next week IMO. talataina to start and ropata to at least come off the bench.

Certainly sounds like McKellar has run out of patience with a few of them:
"I've been here a while now, a number of months now and I think there's some things it's going to take time to change. There are some people who are too comfortable. That needs to change," McKellar said.

"If you're too comfortable, just happy to be here and wear the tracksuit. That will change."

Hard to tell how much that relates to the 23 and how much of it is about the wider squad, but if it's an explanation for performances it has to relate to at least a few members of the 23.

Leota looks done anyways.
Tahs still have had a vastly better year than last so I wouldn’t be too concerned. But need to be planning for next year now.

Tupou seems to be enjoying his new pine princess role and seems more energetic when he’s actually on the field.

Someone must have told him he’s earning about $5k per minute played.
Has looked more interested the past couple rounds. Positive signs if hes mentally getting there.

Its been a few years since he has, Although better in Gold last year, he still misses to many tackles. And to think people are still probably calling him to be in front of Wright.

Poor BR would cope it for saying it

I thought the most damning thing I heard was when Horan was interviewing Jake Gordon after the game, and mentioned how well Tupou went for first 10 minutes after he came on, I thought on it and couldn't really argue, he really is a part time player now for some reason
On the interview with Gordon, I really enjoyed listening, Gordon spoke sense, without the usual cliche's etc, just talked of actual play.
Yeah he gets talked up for a couple of runs that any forward should be required to do, and is able to do. Nothing special. He should not be anywhere near the Australian squad and I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole if I were an overseas team. You'd be paying overs to get unders. Yes, he can hold up a scrum, but so can young Botha. I'd have Alan Ala'alatoa, Tom Robertson and Zane Nonggorr ahead of him. Geez, I'd have Tauakipulu ahead of him.

To be fair, my comment was tongue in cheek, but several before the start of last year's tests were still pinning for Kellaway at fullback, even after Wright's cracking year. This year, there have been fewer tries, but it has still been consistently awesome.
