The Waratahs will either be trying to get Australia's first win in 17 games against New Zealand opposition this season or the second in a row after the Reds produce a huge upset against the Chiefs in New Plymouth on Saturday afternoon.

Due to concerns over the state of the pitch for Sunday afternoon's A League Grand Final, the SCG Trust is meeting with the Waratahs this morning to discuss whether it is possible to move the Tahs v Blues game to North Sydney Oval.

Certainly an unlikely prospect at this point as the logistical issues will be a major challenge.

The cash incentive for the Waratahs would be pretty enticing though.

Holy moly please yes.

I'd much rather watch it at North Sydney than the fucking SFS.

Or Brookvale.

Or anywhere.

I would absolutely attend this if it goes to North Sydney Oval.

Likewise - I only went there for the first time for the SS Grand Final last year and it was fantastic.

Dinner and a couple drinks at the Oaks, walk over to the ground, stand on the hill with some tinnies, get the train home or out afterwards.

How good.

Yeah, has a fair bit of nostalgic value for me as well.

Financial incentive is one thing.

Asking Fox to truck their gear to another facility might be another.

Cracking tidbit from that article:

"To move the game to North Sydney Oval would require the Trust to compensate the Waratahs significantly, not least as the venue holds only 15,000 spectators."

Should we be so lucky.

I think the Tahs should actually consider North Sydney // Brookvale // other similar sized stadiums more often as the atmosphere and viewing quality is far better than the SFS. I really enjoyed the trial at Brookie (even if it cost us Bernard for the beginning of the season).

Besides, are we really going to get over 15,000?

Interestingly enough, the major of my close friendship circle (~10ish people) are huge AFL fans and we attend a Swans home game every 2-3 weeks together.

Getting them to the SFS for a Tahs game would be a huge task, but I just floated the idea of the Tahs at North Sydney (if its moved) and they're all super keen on the idea.

Likewise, I attended the SS GF with my wider friendship group (~40ish) guys and I'd say that only 5-8 of them would have been to a Tahs game in the last year, and less than that would have been to a SS game.

For some reason there seems to be something magical about standing on a hill with a VB tinny whilst watching a good game of rugby unfold.
