Waratahs 2026

Major Tom

Peter Fenwicke (45)
Ha ha. I've got a lot of respect for O'Donnell. Think he could have been (or could be) first centre picked for Tahs down the track even with JAS now listed there. But you're right. Brumbs are light on for centres with experience.
He's a handy player. But he's got far more development to go. He's not gonna fix your midfield any more than Pritchard and Mcleod.

O'Donnell seems to be a player with a high playing ceiling and potential, but you need to ask is something going on off the field as when he left the Force he caught their recruitment team totally off gaurd as they were expecting him to sign him for 2026, and as we now know he was back in Sydney before they even knew what had happened. It would be sad if this is the case again. If injured like Phillipson as he is for the Force you would have thought that they would list him especially ivo the 2027 contract.....

He only went to the Force initially because his path at the Tahs was blocked when Foketi and Perese had the positions with Walton, Tuipolotu and Wilson behind them.

He then took the chance to come straight back when approached and re signed through 2027 this year. I'm not sure there's anything off the field. He's always playing SS when available. Was out there for round 1 of Super Rugby Aus but not after that.

I'm hoping it's either an error or he's picked up an injury that may see a substantial amount of time out.

Interesting. Something off field may have happened. Hopefully, we see him back soon, think him and JAS should be the center pairing at the Tahs.
Could be seeing if this is for him.. Some guys aren't always as deep into the game and may want to see what else is out there that may spark their interest or find the love for Rugby again. He may also want to study which we have seen players do. Might also be dealing with something and it would take a lot of courage to speak up and step back from pro sports.

We don't know, but hope all is ok.

I hope we see him back as soon as he's ready. He has the potential to be a top class Centre for a long time.

The tahs love Bowen, so assume he will be there somewhere when he is back from rehab. Looking at the training pics it looks like Amone needs a fair bit of fitness work again so if Goddard can get some preseason game time he may slot in as Botha's back-up.
Hoping Botha and Talataina step up next year, Botha really starting to look like he could be a pack leader.

The Tahs also have young James Hendren who is a fantastic player. Love to see him light up the trials and force his way in somewhere. Can play wing, fullback and 10. I know Jorgo played fullback in his junior years but he looks much better on the wing at this level and above for mine. The Tahs look to have a good side as always out of the blocks.

Im still not sure what Bowen's strength is. He is solid without having a running game, big kick or super pass. Donno can run and pass, Gordon can run, take on the line and pass, Edmed can take it too the line.
