Glad to see the guys from Vic getting a shot.

These kind of guys are the ones Rugby need to hold in Aus. Give him a couple of years of good S&C and coaching and who knows what they can be. We never saw enough of guys like Irae Simone and what he could have been as a long term 12. Bundee Aki was 23 before he got a game with the Chiefs. How many blokes have we half written off by then..

Link said on a podcast once that it takes most club players at least year of pro S&C to survive regularly in a pro team, it is about recovery and then finding out how well they can perform on one leg with damaged ribs - because they are all carrying injuries after a couple of games

These games will be good to see how perform and back up

Link in another podcast talked about getting the balance right in the squad, you need to old pros in the dressing room to drive standards as much as the enthusiasm of children

I in no way consider Debreczini a messiah, but a solid squaddie, yeah OK, a swap with/for Edmed is a meh move IMHO as best

So in essence, he was speaking common sense.
I was convinced Debreczini was retiring but I'm happy he's come in as a back up for Bowen and Creighton and mentor Folwer a bit. If he's only needed for a couple of games next year then that's a win.

I think they are both at there best a 7/10 player. If Jack Deb was 23 he's probably in current wider Wallaby squads. But, he was also a lot more erratic back then...

Old heads that are no fuss at training, calm in games, eat well and do the little things well are exactly what the kids 17-21 need to see. They spend a lot of time together running Broncos and doing gym work with each other but you learn how to act from older guys. I also think the Coaching staff are able to get a good gauge on the young players when they speak to the older ones about them no doubt.

We're screaming out for big centers so worth taking a punt.

It was odd not seeing Cooper Watters in either the U19 or Super AU squad.
Not sure of his age but he also wasn't name in the U18 squad either?

My hope is that Creighton takes this opportunity, I thought he was quite good this season and was a tad baffled by the swapping as it turned to shit as at no time was any of the others an upgrade

We continued to swap and change our centres and wonder why there is a lack of cohesion, pick a starting side and give them time

Played the full year for Easts 1st Colts at 12 and in the 19s squad like MT mentioned.

Best thing for him is to just play in one position as he's played every spot in the backline over the last 3 years whilst at Scots but he's a 12 with his size. He's a decent prospect but definitely got the media attention because of his surname and in the end some harsher judgements.

Zac Fittler looked strong in contact in the one 1st colts game I watched him play. Powerful through the legs and good leg drive. Probably helping that he’s professionally conditioned compared to colts age players.

Would probably be in 1st grade at the bottom 5 clubs. Imagine he might be a chance to play some minutes next year for Easts in 1st grade and 1st colts.

Re "getting the crowds back"

I can see the logic of Fridays nights consistently being game night

1/ Over 500,000 people work in the CBD each day

2/ Getting the habit started for a subset to use the good public transport to get to the game

The same kind of habit was created for a while when Sydney FC was playing at North Sydney oval and a load of the gilet wearing worker drones rolled in for the match

and the rusted ons are going to turn up more often than not anyway
let's be honest, the main reason for playing on friday is bigger broadcast numbers. if you dont work in the city, it's a shit show getting to moore park on a friday night. and for families, it holds minimal appeal. most families are up early for Saturday morning sport, so lugging kids out there and then having to get home late doesn't work.

Friday nights in isolation are fine, the problem as i see it is having too many on the friday night will not help crowds. although to your point earlier, playing better will help a bit that's for certain.

He played pretty good on Sunday in the GF. I think he is adapting his game well. He has gone from being physically dominant at 16s as he developed quicker than other kids, to now needing to be something more than a battering ram. looks fit and a bit quicker than last time i saw him play. Him and Watters were good in the centres. Complimented each other well in a losing side.

Saw him play at Scots - looked more like a loosehead prop / hooker to me. Could help his career as we always need big slabs of beef in the production line.
