Waratahs 2025

I love the Tahs continued reluctance to recruit high quality locks. And when I say 'love' I mean 'hate with the fire of a thousand suns'.

Seriously, we had one good Kane Douglas season, one good Jacpot season and then you're going back to post-Brumbies Vicks.

For every one decent Tahs lock I can name you five duds. Literally, thanks Hendrik.
Didn't you also snag Tom Staniforth off the Brumbies - now rated by some as in the best locks in Europe.

Just had a peep. Staniforth had bugger all starts in Australia. At the Brums he had 22 games and only 3 starts in 3 seasons as well.

So many meh guys like Peterson who is solely a big human. He's ass and was that size as a teenager out of Scots so everyone thought wow we got one here but he ended up with what 1 game for the Tahs so I guess judgement wasn't so shocking and they didn't waste any more game time on him. All Clubs have them. The Reds gave Dane Zander close to 50 games I'm pretty sure.

But to me that's why it shouldn't be that hard. There's a fair chunk of decent Aussie locks currently overseas that I think we could have a crack at.

Hugh Pyle. Adam Coleman. Tom Staniforth. Matt Philip. Will Skelton. Harry Hockings. That's just off the top of my head.

Now they might have had a crack at all of those blokes, and I acknowledge it's not as easy as just picking up the phone. We aren't awash with cash.

But it's genuinely been 7 or 8 years since we actually spent money on a lock. And I don't think it's a coincidence we've had no success in that time.

Hmm isn't that the problem? Their price tags are way too high for us, they're all getting paid overs. Hard to justify making Harry Hockings the highest paid team member in front of Bell, Kellaway or Sua'ali'i.

Also not sure Hugh Pyle would be much use, he's now a mortgage broker.

Waratah fans are the greatest critics of their side of all time and when they win, suddenly all the imposters come out of their closets and sing their praises ! The side has all the Sydney big wigs money, the brand new stadium, fantastic training facilities… the new million dollar boy….. Greatest wank of a show ever… Brumbies are solid, Reds are like cement and the Force love their side win or lose… now bring it on Tah imposters! Pre season favourites again!

We just have fun making fun of our side because it’s justified when you have the biggest and strongest juniors that then is mismanaged and thriving elsewhere.

Funny/sad thing is the Tahs are Australia’s most recent champions.
‘Mismanaged’ …. well … You can’t argue with that… usually through total arrogance and incompetence.

Philip would be a nice addition. Still a number of years playing left such that he could even make a run at the next RWC. Always rated him. Sydney boy too. He might be missing the beach.

You can look at it that way if you like but 95% of us are just supporting the team that represents the state we live in.

KOB…. I‘m sure there are plenty of true ‘Tah’ supporters… what is a Tah by the way… and Tah Man… my God.. what a genius marketing idea that was …anyway.. I digress…my experience is many absolutely bag the team shitless… think of old mate Derpus… when they are losing … but a little run of wins and they are all back on… I think you must be in the minority… hardly in the ‘95%’!!
