He's an Aussie next yearIt’s definitely an interesting choice for marketing - 2 injured players and a kiwi
And Swinton is looking fit

It's the same thing the Reds have done the last two seasons with the dual captain setup - with Liam Wright injured much of that time he's taken on a lot of the media and sponsor commitments to let the others focus on the on field.Swinton was doing heaps of this stuff all season while he was out.
I guess it's a good way of shifting duties to players who have less commitments due to their injuries.
That ship has sailed. Was a chance to play at this WC if he switched a couple of years ago when RA were keen but since then he's gone backwards as a player and the purse strings have tightened substantially. The new player selection policy from overseas does not help his case either. What little cash RA have for so-called 'marquee' players is likely (and should) be spent elsewhere. What are peoples thoughts on Angus Crichton? We know he is a free agent and I have it on good authority that a stint in rugby union is definitely on his bucket list.....not necessarily in Australia, but the Tahs, or any other franchise, would be mad not to have a crack wouldn’t they? For context he was the same Aus schools crop as Kellaway, Foketi, Dempsey, etc....getting on but not exactly past it.
Thoughts on the NRI sponsorship?
Surely they're putting up a decent bit of coin.
The overall business environment is obviously pretty tight at the moment, but you'd have to think the Tahs have timed this deal well, with team performance improving, some buzz around young players as well as returning veterans, new stadium, etc. From the SMH last year:
With major sponsor deals worth anywhere from $500,000 to $1.5 million per year in Australian rugby, sources told the Herald the Waratahs were aiming for an agreement worth about $1m. (Daiken were at 1.2m when they left)
Yeah I believe from the article Tazz quoted, that the tahs held out last year because no one was front up enough money for front of shirt sponsorship. The overall business environment is obviously pretty tight at the moment, but you'd have to think the Tahs have timed this deal well, with team performance improving, some buzz around young players as well as returning veterans, new stadium, etc.
Some injury updates from the Tahs. Good news amongst it.
Lachlan Swinton
Abrasive backrower Lachlan Swinton suffered nerve damage in his right shoulder during a tackle against the Fijian Drua in Round one, ending his season prematurely.
The Wallaby backrower required a nerve transfer operation to regain muscle function and is tracking well to return to contact training post-Christmas.
Swinton is looking to take part in at least one of the Waratahs’ pre-season trial matches with the aim of being available for selection for the Round one clash against the Brumbies.
Will Harrison
Talented back Will Harrison suffered a multi-ligament knee injury against the Chiefs during Super Round, requiring surgery for a patella and MCL repair.
Harrison is currently working through his rehabilitation and is on track to return to training part way through the Waratahs pre-season, with the aim of being available to play in the early rounds of the season.
Izaia Perese
Izaia Perese suffered a ruptured patella tendon during the second Wallabies Second Test loss against England in July.
Perese had surgery to repair his patella tendon and is looking to commence running pre-Christmas.
The explosive outside back is aiming to progress into full training in mid-January and targeting to return to play in the early rounds of the 2023 season.
Harry Johnson-Holmes
Harry Johnson-Holmes suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in Wallabies camp ahead of the July Test series against England.
Johnson-Holmes had his Achilles surgically repaired and is currently out of a cast walking, focusing on regaining the strength and mobility of the calf and tendon.
The versatile Wallaby prop is aiming to commence running pre-Christmas and returning to play in the early rounds of the season.
Angus Bell
Angus Bell suffered an injured plantar ligament in his big toe which required surgery.
Bell is in the early stages of recovery and currently walking in a boot. Bell is also slated to return running pre-Christmas.
The damaging prop is hoping to get some game time during the Waratahs’ pre-season trial matches in preparation for the Round one clash against the Brumbies.
Good opportunity to test the depth of the squad in the early rounds. That sounds positive all around. Obviously you'd prefer everyone to be available for round one but seems like everything is progressing well.
He's not big enough to play at 6/8 but he coud be a big 12. At least bigger than Paisami lolTbf whilst he's not as physical as Burgess he's a much better line runner and can offload/set-up teammates much better. Way more suited to centre than Burgess was (who should've stayed at 6).
Do u know him?He is going to play rugby, it’s just a matter of whether it’s in Australia or not. Head tells me if it’s not in Aus it will be wherever Jack Maddocks is at the time.
Yeah but the rate of that kid is in the sky. He has to come will of his own like when he picked Samoa over Kangaroos. There's no way that RA could afford himBut yes if we were going to chase a Rooster, make it Sua'ali'i. Leave the ball in Angus' court.
