Umm.. why is Nadolo doing a preseason with Leicester?

I’m more concerned with this photo

Backrow is looking crowded, Hooper, Gamble, Swinton, Gleeson, Harris, Warren-Vosayaco. That's excluding Holloway, Hanigan and Sinclair who are all lock/6 types.

The more I think about it the signings of both Latu and Nadolo are difficult to understand, unless they're playing for peanuts. Even then I would've preferred the continued development of the hookers we have and one or two of the wingers who're leaving.

Latu is worth the roll of the dice IMO. Significantly better than Horton and definitely on peanuts.

Nadolo I'm not huge on. We've got pretty good outside backs.

Latu will bring some X factor to the forwards, if he can stay card free, he is certainly an upgrade on Porecki/ Horton. I'd imagine Nadolo would be more so in a Jamie Roberts type role in mentoring the younger guys coming through. Some stints off the bench could be very handy too.

I can’t imagine someone offered Hugh Bokenham a pro contract, is it just the case they’re no longer on the books as they’re not required (good enough). Robertson and Douglas same deal.
Yeah I agree. He's not done as a player but his current contract would be replaced by a younger version of the same player and see how they develop.

I can't see how Latu is an upgrade on Porecki, currently the best hooker in the country. Horton maybe, but then Vailanu is also an upgrade on Horton. I've said it before, but Latu would benefit from staying out of high profile sport and getting some help to sort his personal issues.

Because he's still contracted to them...
Did some digging, yep you're right.

The Waratahs are not expected to confirm Nadolo’s signing for some time as the 34-year-old is still on contract with UK Premiership side Leicester and will leave them mid-way through the next European season.

He will arrive in Australia towards the end of this year and likely be on duty for the back-half of the 2023 pre-season.

Interesting - is it common for players to arrange their contracts like this? Strange the Tigers would be happy for him to leave halfway through a season.

For example I think Bryce Hegarty is all done over there and will be back for the full Super Rugby season with the Force.
