Waratahs 2023

Goddard was pretty good from what I remember. Played Aus 20s with HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), ASY (Angus Scott-Young), Liam Wright, Hamish Stewart, Perese, Paisami and probably a few more. Similar style to Gordon, kicks goals. Yes, good signing.

As a kid the Rebels threw him to the wolves and almost ruined him. Was an absolute gun as a young goal kicking scrum half.

The Tahs missed him (by reaching out after he'd already signed in MLR). After his first season and winning the comp, I thought he might try to wiggle out of the second year of the deal to come home. When that didn't happen and with Robertson and Wilson around I thought his time might have passed.

Good luck to him

I remember seeing him in Aus Schools and U20s and thinking we had the next big thing. Could Goal Kick, in play kick, run and he's a fairly big/athletic Half Back. Absolutely no idea about how he trains or personality but let's hope we can get the best out of him.

I think his dad played with Tony Melrose and Andrew Leeds at Parramatta two blues when they were strong in the 80s.

Brilliant player but I actually dont think we need him. We have a stacked back row and plenty of 5/6 hybrids. We need a proper out and out tight head lock.
Spot on. Next year I'd like to see Hanigan/Holloway at 5/6 in any order. The other lock needs to be a proper TH lock.

How about the backrow depth next year? If one of them are in the backrow that leaves Harris, Hooper, Gamble, Gleeson and maybe even Swinton for a 2 starting spots and a bench spot.

Rahboni too, although I'm not sure if Gamble, Swinton or Sinclair are actually signed for next year yet. I can't see them letting Gamble go but there's going to have to be some more movement in that crop of back row/sometimes locks you'd think, particularly if they find the TH lock they're looking for. A lot might depend on the nature of Swinton's injury and when he looks like getting back on a rugby field.

Will be behavioural clauses so good from Tahs perspective, cut him on any indiscretion.

Meanwhile, there is still water to pass under the bridge before Tolu Latu returns to the Waratahs. Latu is still at the talking phase with NSW about a contract, which will be heavily laden with behavioural clauses.

the tweeter says we have signed Harrison Goddard, good pick up
I like it.

Gordon is our Captain and the 9 is his but if you look at any Super Rugby team they use at least 3 Half Backs a year at some stage.

I'm not sure how far Jack Grant (28) has left in his ceiling and I am a fan of Teddy Wilson (19) whilst still very young. Goddard at 24 could be in that sweet spot of his career right now. DC has been able to get the most out of him at the Stags 2020 and Giltinis 2021 both winning their respective titles.
