Happy with this. Maddocks needs more time to settle and evolve. He's looked better at the Tahs than at the Rebels to my mind and 15 is definitely his position. He could be a fantastic player if he could just bring it all together consistently, really shows glimpses of it at times. He will need to show it in the next year or so if he wants to fulfil his Wallabies aspirations because Campbell and others will be vying for similar honours.

To be fair, he has barely had any time at 15. What, 5 or 6 games? i think he'll ultimately be a Wallaby 15. Maybe not this year, but he's better than Banks and Campbell IMO - particularly his kicking game which is important at test level.

Mental game, positioning and defence are his shortcomings. He has a nice boot, good hands. Really could be exceptional.

He’s also bigger and potentially stronger than all the contenders, let alone he’s a little bit younger as well. Maddocks gets judged like he’s 27/28 not 23.

He was seriously good while he was at the Rebels, for the most part. Half way through last season he reportedly had some kind of a falling out with Wessels and his his game turned to crap. I heard that he wasn't really into training too hard and wasn't particularly happy being 3rd in line for fullback, that could have just been sour grapes though.

Don't forget, he did play seven test matches while he was at the Rebs. If he can fix up some of his issues and consistently string some good games together there's no reason he couldn't get back into the Wobs. He has the talent.

Yes, he shot out of the blocks and was scoring more than a try a match, then fell off and didn't make the RWC squad. He obviously wasn't happy at the end

Watched north’s vs Randwick - Clarke has good good game - wonder if he would be better trying to convert to 13 or just one of those fringe players that just can’t quite take next step.

Was wondering if Dave horwitz might have developed during his overseas time to consider being a recruit for tahs next season - do not see enough to suggest he would get a gig..

Looks like they’ll be competing with the Force to bring Rodda home. My money is on him going west though.
