Waratahs 2020

The Tahs should only re-sign AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) if the price is right. He can't be amongst our highest paid players otherwise it is a waste of money.

I think he has a place in the squad but it is a moneyball proposition. He's not consistently test quality anymore and that is essentially what you have to strive for.

Super Rugby is such a tough competition. You can't just settle for a player that might be middle of the road or worse in their position relative to the other teams.
If Foketi is 12, Hunt is dubious, Rona gone and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) rejected - who are our options at 13? Not convinced Clark or Newsome are the answers.

I think Newsome could end up playing 13 next year but I agree that we are looking fairly skinny.

It still comes back to price vs value though. You'd ideally want to keep one of Hunt and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) but if both are overpriced we shouldn't do it.

I'd definitely be looking to bring in some of the backs from either this years under 20s or the last year or so from interstate that haven't really got an opportunity there.

J Folau has been playing OC for two blues, is it possible he will have a good enough off season to come into contention?

Possibility of bringing Semisi Tupou into the fold? As I doubt he will be getting much gametime at the rebels in the coming years?

However Waratahs seem to have a policy of promoting from within and that’s not such a bad policy.

Tupou is likely to start for Rebels on the wing in place of MK next year.

I rate him. Best young centre going around.

James Armstrong also playing well for Uni. If he was a foot taller and wider he'd be really something.

I wouldn't make any list changes to our pack for next year unless people leave. Happy to take a cohesion dividend over trying to do something about lack of grunt (look how the Roets experiment went down).

HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), O'Connor, Robertson, A Bell. Vui and C Talakai (need to re-sign)

Fitzy and Tuala (need to re-sign) + Latu on peanuts if he is all good with the law.

Staniforth, McCauley. Holloway, Simmons and Hanigan (need to re-sign)

Swinton, Dempsey, Hooper, W Harris. Wells, H Sinclair and P Tafa (need to re-sign)

Replace Holloway, Simmons or Wells if they leave with Ben Gunter or Fergus Lee-Warner from the Force hopefully.

Staniforth should never be kept

McCauley never gets used and has no grunt so shouldn't be kept

Latu is nothing but trouble so shouldn't be kept

Tried the Cohesion this year and failed

Time for new recruits

O'Connor has another year to go

Vui was overlooked all year

Lacking grunt will lead to the same results. Time to add size and grunt. The pack needs to change

Dylan Pietch playing grade at Wicks at 13.

He converted from a backrow/Lock at school though Aus 7's.

Didn't see alot of ball on Saturdays game v Uni. Had one good run down the sideline but didn't figure too much in the game.

Potentially a very good 13 option. Worth watching.

I was surprised Porch didn’t get a look in before signing to head to Connacht, could of been a solid signing for wing/centre

Tahs going to be in the weird position of having spots available come NRC

He hardly set the world on fire from what I saw of him for Norths in the Shute Shield. Certainly no better than Cam Clarke.

I thought Armstrong covered him pretty well. Very quick though with a great right foot step, definitely athletic enough for higher honours.

Are the Waratahs going to rest their Wallabies, if Gibson thought it was a shit idea then why did he agree to do it in the first place?
