Waratahs 2020

Wish we'd nabbed Slipper when the Reds shafted him, boy is he looking good atm.[/quote]

Big strong prop. Great at the set piece. Wallaby and Experienced.
Greatly needed

Was AVAILABLE

Not signed by Gibson and Hoare as

Will Skelton would be so handy right now. Ryan McCauley just doesn't look like he'll ever be bigger.

Beanpole seems to be like Simmons, Not an enforcer but was calling the lineouts for both the Tahs A games. Maybe that is what Penney sees in him for the future?

I'd question if he'd have developed and refined his game to the same extent as he has at the Brumbies.

Could do a lot worse than Fergus Lee-Warner. Don't know what his contract situation with the Force is though.

I'm not sure what his contract would be. Went over with Deegan back in 2018 so assume he renewed somewhere along the way. He didn't look too bad for the Force in the NRC. It'd be interesting to see how he goes stepping up to Super Rugby. He is a New South Welshman to boot.

Slipper might not be light but he is definitely mobile. I think completely capable of playing a link man in the pods for centers wanting to get busy.

They bought Hunt instead and he was in the same boat

They did buy Hunt who I think has repaid handsomely. Appreciate what the Tahs did there. But I don't think he was in the same head space as Slipper.

Actually that reminds me - it may not have been a Tah decission to take both of them. Seem to recall Reds playing shenanigans and not wanting them both harnessed with the same opposition.

This:

And this:
He also needed a stable and supportive club to support him through some tough times. Would Waratahs be such a club?

Both great points - the NSW setup is a fucking basket case, operating a shitshow out of a set of demountables in the arse end of the Eastern Suburbs.

They're so fucking disorganised they are holding the women's AGM at half a week's notice and the same time as the Subbies Board meeting. One hand is not washing the other, at any level.

Been pondering future possibilities out there for the Tahs. So much talent abroad. The Arnolds, Carter, Coleman and Skelton all arguably at their peak. Even Gunter in Japan I liked the look of in the Sunwolves last year.

Closer to home, what about Skelton's baby bro Jeral? I've liked what I've seen of him in the 7's. I think from memory he was playing 6 for St Pat's / Brothers? I'd be keen to see how he might go at Super Rugby. After the Olympics this year I wonder if some of those players might be ready for a change.

Anyone know what happened to the other huge brother? went to the Chiefs and seemed to fall off the map.

Is there any ETA on those new facilities? Last I heard they were just appointing an architect but I was curious if they have a completion date goal?

Not the most attractive setup if you're trying to attract and retain talent.

From the Hunter Valley area if I'm not mistaken.

You could say that about most things to do with the Tahds.

Slipper has always been incredible. Had his injuries and his off-field discretions but his recent form isn't any better than 7 years ago, he's a champion.
