So you say its filthy play based on the assumption that he plead guilty because of some nebulous 'other angle' that we aren't allowed to see and are not sure even exists. Sounds like a lot of assumption.

Because it sure as shit doesn't look filthy from the only angle we have.

Maybe he was just advised to plead guilty to reduce the severity of his sentence?

Another assumption there Derpus to counteract the assumptions of others?

The only fact that I can see is that Latu pled guilty. The charge was one that carried a maximum penalty of 10 weeks. What else could the disciplinary committee do but suspend him for a significant part of that 10 weeks?

Yeah look people who know a lot more about mauls than me seem to think it was pretty dirty, so i guess it was deserved.

Fuck i hate mauls though. Boring, confusing pieces of shit.

Now that's another argument, but one where I agree that something needs to be done to lessen their impact. Maybe, one stop and it's over.

I think more needs to be done to enable teams to defend mauls, as the current punishment of losing the ball if held up is not enough. I'd almost go so far as to ban intentional mauls from a set-picee. Almost.

According to Tom decent on Twitter who has the full side for the emerging Waratahs that Qld lock who was training with the Tahs Nathan Den Hoedt is on the extended bench

I don’t think mauls are particularly well defended, especially at Super level, and there are ways to negate them that aren’t often thought about nor implemented. The Chiefs didn’t help themselves at all last week contesting some lineouts and not contesting at others, in fact it seemed like they’d hardly come up with any counter strategies. In contrast, the Crusaders completely defused the Lions’ lineout drive in last year’s final despite the Lions having the arguably the best maul in the comp. Individually, Rory Arnold and Will Skelton are also very good at using their wingspan to get their hands on the ball carrier.

Very strong team.

Not seen Harrison play fullback, could be an interesting experiment.

I'd just play the normal number of reserves (16-23) not 13 blokes on the bench. Just pick a full time squad of 36-40 and then have your academy for under 20s, you don't need to bring in every Tom, Dick and Harry. This supplementary squad crap of blokes who aren't full time like BJ Edwards and Rory Suttor etc. just annoys me.

It's essentially a trial game.
