I disagree, if there was a chance they could get him off it they would have fought for it.

I’m suprised by the outrage on this by Tahs fans to be honest, Latu has a history of cynical behaviour, that’s that risk you take when you sign a player like him., Sunwolves fans are the ones who should feel aggrieved, they have lost a key player through injury, and can rightfully feel cheated that this penalty wasn’t identified on the field, which would have given them a penalty kick to win the game rather then fighting with only 14 players during the last phase of the match.
Definitely not outraged, and he is clearly a reckless player. Just think it's a little silly based on the video we've seen. Anyway, whatever.

Typical Rugby administrators' lack of transparency and "we know better than you" approach.
If Latu's sin was so bad, the rugby community should be shown and the decision justified. At the moment, we don't even have the Sunwolves saying how bad it was and all rugby followers are in the dark.

Latu incident is not much different to what Scott Barrett did to Hanigan's knee (medial ligament) last year in Christchurch (Crusaders v Tahs) which wasn't even referred to the foul play committee.

Am I missing something? Quirk has the ball. Latu dives in low, but nothing about it seems obviously illegal or cynical. It might be a shoulder charge, but it's hard to tell from that angle.

Yeah, I think he potentially goes in with no arms but I also think both Latu and the referee's take was that Quirk was the ball carrier and it was no longer a maul.

Looks like a leg pull and then Latu drops his weight into Quirk's leg. Also looks like no arms.

Perhaps in future he should step aside the maul bearing down on him and also avoid tackling players around the legs.
