Gee - that’s tough. This is where Australian teams really come up short. 2-3 injuries and there is a real gulf to their next best. Any chance there is an experienced prop coming off a season in Japan who can come in on a short term contract?

None spring to mind.Kepu back in this week, Vui out for only 1 week (he was never going to be a starter). Plenty of young props already signed , they’ll have to take this as an opportunity. The Brumbies are the only Australian franchise with depth in this position

Previously - yes. But with Sione, Mayhew gone, they have young blokes (Fifita & Ross) in the mix now too.

Rebels probably have weakest first choice props, but greatest depth across 7 players

There’s two ways to go, sign a journeyman or rely on the young blokes. Vui, Cody Walker and HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) were all Oz under 20s props two years ago. Can you suggest who the journeyman who is superior and should have been signed is?

For a season as a suitable bench prop? Faagase, Longbottom, ......Ryan....... I'm sure there are a number of Mitre 10 props or PI players who could fill the bench gap nicely.

Can't just go from Starters to novices - gotta have the middle ground covered, the reliable but unspectacular workhorses.

Still think Faagase would be a good option - didn't pick up a NZ Super Rugby gig pretty sure, available.

It’s a good question Silverado. There may be legitimate reasons, I don’t know. But Fa’agase seemed pretty solid to me without being overly spectacular (and therefore expensive). Certainly I would like him still on the books, although Fotuaika did a pretty good job against the Cheifs.

Yep, you threw up some good options. Lloyd from Force also an option. I thought Fotuaika looked a good pick up for Reds

I rate Hoopert. Saw him in U20 last year and was the pick of the props. Hes no monster, but very good around the park.

Pretty sure he got a try in the Cheifs trial.

or are in WA doing an extended pre-season with no news on who or when they will play next?

What the Waratahs would do for Longbottom or Lloyd or even Vanzatti

The issue is that all the options above are all LHP’s. (#1’s)

Faagase has had some time at THP but is prodomantly a LHP and has picked up a contract with the Highlanders. He played in the trial against the Tahs two weeks ago and monstered Sham on a number of occasions.

Vanzati, Lloyd, Hoopert are all LHP’s as well. Maybe pinching someone from NZ would be ideal (ITM Cup experience) but the boat has probably sailed on that one by now

Rona been disappointment for me so in many ways not that sad heading to Europe as who knows may spend a few years over there and come back better player for last few years he has left in the game.

If I was a winger looking to the 13 to put me into some space, I would prefer Rona over AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) everyday of the week

Sef Fa'agase is at the Highlanders, Paddy Ryan is in MLR.

They are best looking at the Western Force, and even then would have to convince Twiggy of the worth to save a few $$ from his operation. And the reality is that the Vanzati, Lloyd are unproven - really the only one with the runs on the board would be Longbottom.
