Personally I have no problems with Cheika. Perhaps lets his anger get the best of him at times but that doesn't really concern me.
Hearing people wanting to wax lyrically about his amazing character and everything else fucking nauseates me though.
Michael Cheika has done well at two traditionally strong teams. They're long term strength prior to him cannot be ignored. But neither can the failures of all his predecessors who had similar resources.
With regards to his position as the Wallabies coach, well he was the best credentialed Australian coach (and possibly any nationality really) with success in what we consider the best competition so it was really the right appointment under the circumstances.
But again, my issues don't relate to anything Cheika is doing. Reading headlines like "Cheika does what other Wallaby coaches fail to" once again fucking nauseate me (Growden I'm pretty sure). Considering I read that last Wednesday or Thursday Cheiks must be absolutely fucking amazing if he was achieving what others before him failed to before he even coached a test!

It's just unfortunate I guess as it would not be Cheika's demise I would take any satisfaction in. Unless you're a maintenance guy at GIO Stadium or South African camera I don't know why you would dislike him.
It's more so those political campaigners, whom on this occasion come out of NSW and in order for them and their maneuvering and back room dealings to be wrong, would need to see his demise.
Unless Cheika tightens his relationship with Alan Jones. In that case fuck him too.

Lolz. Queensland won a couple of Super titles before rugby went pro, then were arse pie squared for over a decade before Link (the Victorian born NSW player) rescued them. Now they're arse pie again but still lording it like they invented rugby

I am just expressing an opinion that Cheika is unlikely to adopt a position that succession at NSW is not his problem.
Of greater importance is the realisation that as a Waratahs supporter I am not disqualified from stirring shit on the Reds 2015 thread!

We're pointing at that significant succession plan was put in place at the reds with much less urgency and that did not work out too well to begin with.

Back on thread, the Waratahs 2015 campaign could well be a model for the rest of Australian rugby on how succession and long term development is managed.
Personally I think Link was lousy at the Waratahs, possibly just did not interfere to much at the Reds and probably did not make the best of the opportunity at the Wallabies.
Before Reds supporters go ape shit on this I draw their attention to the constant controversy over the talents of Richard Graham. That is actually the planned and executed succession strategy of the previous coach.

Coaching development is such an important issue for Australian rugby. In 2007 we apparently had no domestic coach capable of stepping up and in 2013 and 2014, only one.
This is not a simple issue. Everyone lauds Wayne Bennett but check out how he leaves things when he goes.

From what I have seen as a follower of multiple sports, succession planning is close to a myth.
If the successor is close to equal quality it works. But if that is the case they generally can manage success themselves anyway.

To elaborate, the game doesn't stagnate. Whatever you set up for 2014 will not be best practice in 2017. If the person is not able to anticipate these and develop plans and procedures autonomously it will gradually decline anyway.

On the other hand the most memorable NSW performance in the 2014 Super Rugby campaign was Round 1 v Reds in 2013. The team just ran the ball even though in every play the carrier and support runners looked totally confused about what to do. THE turning point, and for mine, the day Cheika established his credentials.

Yes, I am placing "trust" in Cheika and it is totally subjective. However there is real value in living and breathing a value such as "leaving things better than I found them". However as TWAS says we might have to wait until 2017 to truly judge the succession of 2015.
That may well have been the issue at the Reds. Too much thinking and concluding about what would be required in the future and providing that solution only. There is probably a need for a culture and system to be built which is self evolving. As I type this I recall Cheika saying similar things when he started, very heartening.
