Its not a bad problem for Michael Cheika to have in fairness, I'd wager there are a lot of coaches in the world who'd want the problem of how to fit KB (Kurtley Beale) into their backline. At the moment I'd have him at 10 and Foley at 12, I think we'd see some really exciting attacking play from that combination although we would need our back rows to carry in the 12 channel more as we'd be missing someone to truck up crap ball.

Tala Gray is a Victorian.
He has played a little rugby in Sydney Shute Shield with Easts, leaving 1/2 way through 2011 season.
Can't recall if he was playing Shute Shield in 2010.
While he has some affiliation with the Beasts, it is not as welded on as if he had come up through the Junior ranks with them.
Should he be directed towards a non North/East heartland club for Shute Shield, such as Pirates, 2 Blues, Emus, Woodies, or Hobbits?
With the separation of Tah's Ltd ( with responsibility to run the Soup franchise only) from the NSWRU (with responsibility for development of rugby (and indirectly thru SRU to run Shute Shield)), the argument to have Tah's Ltd direct their contracted "out of state" players to clubs such as Two Blues, Emus etc to bolster their playing stocks and make Shute Shiled more competitive is a little weak.
If I was CEO Tahs Ltd on a 2 yr contract with bonus incentives, then I would want my players playing with the best coaches, in the best clubs, using the best S&C and medical support staff, with the best equipped facilities that facilitate the team. I wouldn't care about the long term viability of Shute Shield teams/clubs. I would also want my players stationed close to Moore Park as the majority of the season they spend the majority of their working hours there. I wouldn't want them commuting 1+ hours each way if I could help it.
The connection between players distributed widely around clubland and more punters rolling up to SFS and Homebush for games and buying Merch has yet to be demonstrated. As CEO, merch, and ticket revenue is very important to me. Until this link is proven demonstrably, then I can't see the Tah's CEO or Board being inclined to direct players to far flung realms of the Shute Shield empire. Growth of the sport in Western Sydney is "not our problem".

Why would any coach consider dispensing with Rob Horne's services the way he's playing this year? The metres he gains in contact while straightening the Tahs' attack are invaluable. Having said that Beale would be very welcome at the Tahs next year, depth in a Super squad's vitally important; St Catastrophe of the Injuries will ensure he gets plenty of game time. Folau running off Beale, priceless!

the complexities of staff negotiations: you only need beale if you lose horne or folau, but if you sign him just in case, you will have to get rid of horne or folau in order to afford him....

I was working on the assumption that Horne is leaving as was touched on above. It would be great if he stayed given the form that he is in, and it would give us a lot of depth and variety in the back line.

I think it depends on ARU top ups and 3rd party payments. I was under the impression both are not included in the salary cap.
The tahs could use up cap space on horne, safe in the knowledge that Beale and Folau will get big tops ups.
