he would be a good move for you guys, though what does it say to hard workers and straight shooters like israel, foley etc who bust their buts only to be replaced by a d!ckhead.

hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, and KB (Kurtley Beale) is falling into the latter side. But, i do agree that Melbourne doesnt seem to be working for him. question is whether sydney would
ultimately i think you guys will pick him up with a very strict contract.
i think that delve and probably higgers aside, we just dont have enough old hard nuts (and higgers isn't that old) so a guy like KB (Kurtley Beale) can run a bit wild as some of the younger guys dont want to cross paths with the wallaby incumbant.
on that basis, you can only hope that being around some of the older more mature waratahs players would help.

That's why I mentioned making it conditional. It would have to be made abundantly clear that he would be expected to work his arse off just like everyone else to earn his spot. If he doesn't like it then may be he should elsewhere. Would be good for him and other players. Competition breeds success in my mind.

As above I think Beale is in real need of a strong willed coach who isn't afraid to call and spade a spade and give it to him when he needs it. I don't know what sort of coaches he had at Joey's but Hickey, Foley and now Hill aren't exactly stern in nature. From all accounts supplied by Lee Grant, Cheika is a hard nosed character as a coach who expects the best of his players. Beale could flourish under a more authoritarian regime.

^^^ ....... Or has he been indulged so much, for so long, that he would sook off into the corner when real pressure and consequences are applied?

I hope that this is not the case, and that he has enough self control and discipline to knuckle under and deliver what he is paid to deliver. A change of environment is often good, but there are some who say that is one of the reasons for the move to Melbourne in the first instance.

Not only will he "need" a no nonsense type of coach if he is to come back north of the Murray, but his player management team need to keep a very very close and active eye on him. In fact he needs that right now regardless of where he is playing, living or touring.

Absolutely agree. That is why I'm advocating a move back up to Sydney. Cheika is installing a strong sense of self-accountability among the Tahs playing group. It was most evident in Drew Mitchell standing up and taking it on the chins for his axing and realising that more was needed from his end. The culture being developed in Sydney already seems stronger than the one in Melbourne.

As for chucking tantrums. I'll use my little niece as an example. She's an angel, never misbehaves and is full of personality in my and my family in general presence. However, in the presence of my sister-in-laws mother she a demanding little tantrum thrower. Why? Because we have never tolerated tantrums and expect her to behave herself. We also not afraid to say no. Something my sister-in-laws mother never says to her and when she does caves at the slightest tear.

The point is, if you are allowed to get away with a set kind of behaviour that is negative and are not pulled into line you'll with it unabated.

I think the Tahs will probably lose Barnes at the end of the season. He is a star player that needs to be replaced. Beale fits that requirement as he plays 10 and 15.

I don't think we can only look to recruit players who would be behind Foley and Folau in the pecking order. I am massive fans of both of them and think that Folau might get pushed to the wing with the return of KB (Kurtley Beale) but Foley should stay 10.

I really hope we can re-sign Folau. He seems to be enjoying himself and he is getting better each game. He could be incredible by next year.

would agree with all that. i hope you keep folau as well. he is playing great and as you say, improving every week and i think end of the year he will be a star and be in the wallabies november tour without a doubt.

and when you compare his demeanor with the forlorn figure he cut in the afl over the past two years - the guy looks to be having a blast.

Cheika in todays SMH says that he wants to tie down players in the roster before he goes shopping for others ie Beale. Also seems confident that Izzy will stay.

I think Beale would be on his radar to be honest. Sure he's not going to say it in the press but he'd likely be thinking it. His priorities are more than likely retaining the talent that he thinks best suits his gameplan that he already has and would likely be waiting for Beale to come to him before engaging in talks but it would not surprise me in the least to see Beale back in the varsity blue colours of the Tahs next season.

I agree that it is a likely outcome.

I also like what Cheika is saying regarding working on securing current players first.

For the morale and continuity of the side it is critically important to be putting pen to paper with all the players he wants to keep before being seen chasing players from other teams.

Did I read the tea leaves correctly in the Drew Mitchell piece? Seems to me like he might be around for next season too. If so, I'm guessing Lachie Turner might be off to Japan.

I got that impression too, obviously if he gets a massive offer of euro it could all change but at this stage seems Mitchell could be leaning towards staying.

That's the thing. How do you get the food and beverages to the purchaser without disturbing other patrons or avoiding the inevitable spillage? Can't imagine fans would be too impressed if someone dropped/spilt their order before it got to them. Even worse if the order lands on a person => who pays for the damage or, worst case, injury?

Well they could treat us like adults and serve beer in cans.

shit...
9.Phipps
10. Foley
11. Mitchell
12. (recruitment? barnes?)
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. Folau
15. Beale

thats a pretty intimidating backline if it gels.

Also, I think Foley & Beale would work well together in the same way that QC (Quade Cooper) & Jono Lance work together for the reds. One sporadic genius & one steady player to clean up the fuck ups.

Tahs shouldn't touch Beale after this weeks carrying on.
No dickheads policy required.

He never caused any issues when he was at NSW. I think he'd be fine with someone like Cheika as his coach. He doesn't suffer fools.

I thought Horne had a strong game at 12. His distribution was fine, his defence excellent and he ran some good lines.

Kingston and Betham provide other strong options on the wing.

Mouth watering backline if it comes together. Horne may be the answer at 12 but we need more performances like Sundays.

Re Beale, I've said before if the Tahs are going to touch him they need very strict conditions regarding drinking etc written into his contract. I'd have to agree with the lads above Cheika won't stand for any shit and could be the man to get him to fulfill his potential.
