I thought that RUPA sides with the medical directive, but aren't happy with the communication or lack there of with the patient/player.
Folau was clearly told by the specialist he visited that there was some risk involved. He had decided that he was right to play based on that advice. Surely RUPA should be siding with the desire of the player so long as they've had access to sufficient medical advice.
What? That the ARU, as the employer, takes an active interest in the welfare of a highly paid employee who is engaged in a relatively dangerous occupation?
What's messy about that?
The ARU aren't his sole employer. He's also employed by the Waratahs. You'd argue that outside test season, the Waratahs are his main employer.
