Because Roff and Mortlock as wingers were streets ahead of everyone else there??? I see Tuqiri's name but jeez for benefit gained from number of touches Mortlock shredded it.

im with waratahsjesus on this one. I didnt vote mortlock simply because im going to vote him for number 13. Tuqiri is the man! he's fast, strong, great under the high ball, plus he put on some bloody good hits!

Yeah, same, Tuqiri and Roff. Although a miserable decade for Wallaby wingers, isn't it? Especially when compared to some other positions, where it's a hard choice between some good players.

Tune was a fantastic winger. Mind you his injuries really fucked him around, was saddened to see him go. He would be my pick in the 8 or so games he must have played.

Rattlebones was so far the best wing for the Wallabies in the last decade that the second best can't be identified. Sailor? Tuqiri? Roff 2000-03? Put each of them up against a fully fit Ben Tune circa 1998-99 and watch the slaughter. Rattlebones v Tune at their respective bests would be worth going a very long way to see.

Gerrard had one awesome season in 04 but his lack of pace was found out after that. Injury also stuffed him up a bit, I reckon he could have made a real good winger as he showed with the Brumbies.

Tune was a good finisher and Tuqiri had his moments. Roff had the ability to switch between fullback and wing with ease.

Agree with Tune and the slaughter of the others. He is by far and away the best wallaby wing I have seen play live. Without his injuries we would be talking about him as one of the greatest Wallabies ever.

I think he would have had it over Rathbone comfortably.

In his prime of course.

In their primes Paddy Batch, the Boyce twins, Campo, Brendan Moon, Alastair Murdoch, John Ryan and a handful of others were MUCH better than Tuney. As was Joe Roff. Tuqiri and Roff were far and away the best wingers of the 90s.

Is that your opinion?
In the absence of a definitive process being presented to prove, or disprove such a theorem, we must assume this is indeed an opinion.

For sheer brutality Tuney would beat them all though Lindy. It was a different style of winger when Tune played. Macqueen really set up the Big Back Line tactics for his recycle plan, because it was all to do with the gain line.

A fine opinion of an opinion, Sir.

However, the said opinion begs the question "how well did Mr Tuqiri play in the 90s?"

Of course, the opinion may not be learned, and open to vigorous debate.

Hmmm, don't rate Campo, then? :fishing

Funny, I read your typo as "Tune". It's only when other people commented on it that I realised you had Tuqiri instead.

Tune and Roff were different types of wingers. Tune in his prime was faster, more agressive, and a stronger runner - I believe Tune was a centre in high school? Roff was one of the best line runners, and seemed to know exactly where to be to score a try, plus he had a better boot (although it was not great) and could kick goals (again, although not with great precision). The Tune of the mid-naughties was a real tragedy when compared to what he was in the late 90s.

I'll debate the opinion virgorously :) Tuqiri was of no account in the 90s.
