We're picking based on their best games for us in a Wallabies jersey? Then I'd say it's as follows:
  1. James Slipper (2014 Rugby Championship - Game 2 v South Africa)
  2. Stephen Moore (2013 EOYT - Wales)
  3. Sekope Kepu (2014 Mid Year Tests - Game 2 v France)
  4. Kane Douglas (2015 World Cup - Wales)
  5. Sam Carter (2014 Mid Year Tests - Game 1 v France)
  6. Scott Fardy (2015 Bledisloe 1)
  7. David Pocock (2011 World Cup QF)
  8. Sean McMahon (2017 Bledisloe 3)
  9. Will Genia (2013 Lions Series - Game 2)
  10. Bernard Foley (2015 World Cup - England)
  11. Joe Tomane (2013 Rugby Championship - Game 2 v Argentina)
  12. Matt To'omua (2013 EOYT - Italy)
  13. Tevita Kuridrani (2016 EOYT - Wales)
  14. Dane Haylett-Petty (2016 Mid Year Tests - Game 1 v England)
  15. Israel Folau (2014 Mid Year Tests - Game 1 v France)
This is a fun game, though. Gone back over the history of the G&GR player of the year and had a look.

I'd throw some other options in the mix - a few curly ones here.

4. Will Skelton vs France in Sydney in 2014.
4. Sitaleki Timani vs New Zealand in Auckland in 2012
6. Rocky Elsom vs South Africa in 2010
8. Radike Samo vs New Zealand in Brisbane 2011
6. Scott Fardy vs New Zealand in Wellington 2014
6. Jack Dempsey vs New Zealand in Brisbane in 2017
15. Kurtley Beale vs South Africa in South Africa in 2010
12. Matt Giteau vs England in RWC 2015
14. Israel Folau vs Lions in Brisbane in 2014

The one real change I'd make is to turf out Tomane or DHP and put Folau to the wing (that Lions game was one of the performances of the decade), and Beale at FB (those South Africa games were both pretty special).

I don't think I've seen a better fullback performance from an Australian this decade than Folau in that first game against France in 2014. A big part of why we flogged them was the defensive shift Folau put in; covering kicks perfectly, getting us out of our half with his running and his kicking, and making a heap of important tackles.

But Tomane could easily have been replaced by Rob Horne against South Africa in 2014, or either JOC (James O'Connor) or Mitchell in the 4th 2010 Bledisloe. I half considered making a best bench showing list too (if only to fit Nic White in there somewhere, haha).

Yeah I thought about Nic White too in that Sydney Bledisloe. Also Beale against England in the World Cup 2015. Tolu Latu against Ireland in Sydney. Drew Mitchell in the World Cup semi against Argentina.

That performance from Folau against the Lions was on his Wallabies debut as well. Such an iconic moment when he stepped Leigh Halfpenny out of his underwear en route to his second try.

I picked McMahon for the backrow, but he has competition from peak-Elsom and Cliffy Palu, Pocock, Hooper, and Fardy. Imagine if we had all that depth at once.

Correct, and he is better than almost all of them.
