Wallaby tactics

Talking about the forwards for a second, watching the game I noticed the differences in how the Wallabies and ABs would restart after slow ball. For the Wallabies it would be one runner with support directly behind him. The runner would get the ball, often standing still and smash forward. The ABs on the other hand would have three forwards running hard at the line and Weepu would pick up the ball and take two steps across field and fire the ball to one of them. This meant that A) they were running when they caught the ball and B) it made the Wallabies try to pick one of three possible targets to tackle. It made it much easier for the ABs to get over the line and get quick ball because they only had to deal with one tackler instead of 3.

Also, while the wallabies were holding on to the ball with all those forwards hitting it up, you could see the backline switching sides and sometimes ending up with a good match up, but the ball rarely went that way. I have no idea if this was Gits, Genia or a tactics choice, but the backs looked a little frustrated at times. It seemed like they gave away a few good chances to run at the ABs when they had a chance of getting an overlap or at least well over the gain line. Instead the backs seemed to get the ball after the ABs had time to fan out. Whatever was wrong with the decision making there definately needs to be fixed by the time they play again.
