The selectors are bloody useless. I don't understand how they can pick players who aren't even regular starting players for their Super 14 teams. Sure McCalman isn't too bad, but he hasn't even played a handful of game for the Force yet. How does he get picked before Housten at the Reds, Hoiles at the Brumbies both specialist 8's with successful super 14 seasons, or Hodgeson and Higgers also 2 players which are able to cover 8 and have outstanding Super 14 seasons. It just doesnt make sense. If i was a selector it should have been picked on form and experience, Waratahs front row, Brumbies forwards, Tahs Back 3, Reds Halves, few key internationals chucked in eg Pocock, Sharpe, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), JOC (James O'Connor).

I largely agree with you about the selections, although some of the QLD outside backs were impressive until injured. I cannot understand how the number 8 selections have worked. I personally would also have liked to see Simmons and Kane Douglas as the locks at least once.

McCalman played 13 games for the force this year. Beale wasn't a regular starter for the tahs nor Simmons for the Reds. There will be even less regular starters next year so we shouldnt restrict ourselves to that selection criteria.

mcalman has played better than housten or hoilies could have ever hoped to
housten has got a lot to improve before he makes the wallabies i swear he drops more ball off the back of a scrum than he picks up>
hoiles had a shit s14 he'd be a much better 6 all i remember him doing was arguing with refs and ruining his teams chances. bad captain.
higgers must be droppin a lot of ball at training otherwise we would have seen him
giteau was picked to play for australia before he'd played s14>

They need to start picking the best players for the team fit, rather than the better individual player. Barnes proved last night that he has no chemistry in an instintive structured back line. Much rather form a champion team rather having than a team of champions.

This is why we should have seen Fainga'a A. running at 12 besides Cooper at some point this year in an international, and why the Reds backline was consistently so effective. Barnes and Giteau - even out of form - are probably better individual players than Anthony Fainga'a. But we don't need every back to kick, beat a player on the outside or look sooky. His skill set and execution potentially would enable the backline to bend the defensive line and safely recycle, or straighten attack before firing wide.
