Don't quite understand, it says within the 48 hour period. Does that mean front rowers are except from the 48 hour window? That makes sense I guess.

You can't replace anyone in the squad within 48 hours of a match.

I read that as saying if you have an injury within that period, and it means you can't put a full 23 out on the field including 2 hookers, you run the risk of forfeiting the game.

No. The replaced squad member must be replaced on medical grounds. You would need to replace another also injured player to do so.

So let's say Moore cops a cork and has to miss a game, that would mean his tournament is then over as any replacement from outside the 31 squad is final.

Massive gamble, at least in every other position there is redundancy.

There must be someone that can play in that role should one of Moore or TPN pull a hammy in the warmup.

If that were to happen then that player would be able to be replaced before the next test match. Looks like Hanson will be waiting should that occur.

If not, the decision is insane. Both our hookers have a history of injury, and play in an attritional position. There is a significant risk of one going down within 48 hours of a game. If they do, we are pretty fucked.

I mean the Horwill selection is weird, but I don't think it will make or break us. This has the potential to fuck us right up.

So Moore and TPN have to be listed for every game and if one of them gets injured anytime after 3 days out Smith is the hooker?
FFS - why would a sane person take these risks?

I'd assume 2 injuries in the 48 hours before the game would count as mitigating circumstances, but 1 injury and not having a replacement in the squad wouldn't be.

I agree the Horwill omission is poor but not a make or break selection. But the replacement is a step down.

The hooker issue is a massive fuck up. Takes a huge risk on potential forfeit, or losing a player for the remainder of the tournament over a minor injury.

Nah. The Saffers showed us how to do it - go uncontested scrums. McMahon at Hooker.

Can we call for uncontested Lineouts?
