Gits will make the 23 - otherwise it is a laughable strategy. Most blokes with 60 caps or close to it are past their prime.

Wing is very well covered so Drew will not be a show. Its a shame Digby is precluded.

I see both as upgrades on Beale, Beale has struggled under the high ball for a while and isn't a good enough defender to defend at 12 against a good side.

I also don't like how Beale's upright running gets smashed against good defenses and then he turns into a sideways sprinter

I'd definitely take Gits over Beale, but saying he's an upgrade because Beale crabs too much is surely taking the piss?

Paul Cully wrote a fairly strongly worded article today suggesting that there are only two things about the Wallabies that are feared in Europe
- A magical day where they attack is on song and cuts teams to shreds
- Pocock at 7

I tend to agree and I've said this before, sometimes it's worth leaving out a player who might have a better all round game if his replacement, who may not be as well rounded has a particular skill in which they are absolutely WORLD CLASS and subsequently changes the way the opposition has to play against you.

Pocock's ability over the ball is an example, in 2013/14 Folau's ability under the high ball would be another.

Are there any other players in Australia worth making that call over?

The quade-To'omua 2013 eoyt combo that had Irish defenders clutching at shadows was pretty spectacular, when it hits it's straps it probably falls in that category that nh sides just don't know how to handle.

But at the same time, if George Smith is at his best, he shades all 3 of them IMO..

wow wow wow wow wow. big call. now that's a debate that deserves it's own thread.

I admit it, I'm a George Smith fan boy :).. 2013 showed his still got it. but 2 years is a long time.

To my recollection Drew Mitchell did not play a test match from 2012. IN 2013 he signed with his French club, but prior to that he didn't make the Lions squad. Unless his form has improved since then, which I doubt (it's likely gone backwards) there's no way he's in my 30.

Mitchell finished 2013 pretty strongly. I think he eventually got into Chieka's good books. He played really well against the Lions, for the Tahs, and was THE best player against Argentina for NSW Barbarians. He was so good as a Tahs fan I started to wish he wasn't leaving.

OK, i'll say it again in case some people are as daft as they're coming across:

YOU MUST HAVE 60 FUCKING CAPS TO BE ELIGIBLE!!!!!
Awesome. This is my cap collection.

I think I have 112 caps. I've only had sex whilst wearing 4 of them so I think I only have 4 fucking caps.

I may go to Europe for a bit. Apparently the girls like guys with caps. I could increase my fucking cap count.

Gargh!
The question remains

Is Julian Salvi eligible for the Wallabies this year?

Pocock is doing a lot to model his game off of the things George Smith used to do outside of the breakdowns for a reason. The only thing Smith has going against him would be age and willingness.
