Wallaby 10 debate

Meredith has potential and has shown some of it so far, but he still needs to actually get both hands on the Brumbies jersey - he's still only managed 4 starts in super rugby and has averaged 19 minutes per game across his 23 matches. Normally you'd expect him to be stepping into the starting role this year, but with Edmed signing and Wright injured it looks like he'll be spending more time at fullback than flyhalf. If the Brumbies manage to grab Lomax as well (or even just once Wright is back) he could find himself wearing the 23 jersey for another season.

It's hard to see him getting the time he would need to really stake a claim for a wallabies spot, particularly at a time when we need stop casting such a wide net and focus on building a couple of players into the role.

Well according to the Super Rugby Player of the Round points

Brumbies v Blues

Blues v Brumbies

6 - Patrick Tuipulotu (BLU)

5 - Tom Hooper (BRU)

3 - Declan Meredith (BRU), Rory Scott (BRU)

2 - Beauden Barrett (BLU), Cameron Suafoa (BLU)

1 - Allan Ala'alatoa (BRU), AJ Lam (BLU), Finlay Christie (BLU)

So Tuipulotu the player of the match and Tom Hooper the best Brumby.

but….

Queensland Reds V Blues

5 - Tom Lynagh (RED), Tate McDermott (RED)

4 - Hoskins Sotutu (BLU)

3 - AJ Lam (BLU)

2 - Anton Segner (BLU), Zarn Sullivan (BLU)

1 - Hunter Paisami (RED), Fraser McReight (RED), Sam Nock (BLU)

I guess we can now put the Wallaby 9-10 combo in ink given “player of the match v the Blues” seems the decisive factor.

I think that has silenced BR until next season Red Runner!

My 2 cents, Donaldson & Gordon (in no particular order)

They are all average, but those two are the biggest options, so i pick them as they need less hiding

Noah is the only other option, but he is wounded and playing in Japan

Swap Noah in for Donaldson and you've got the pair I think. I agree with you on the average part. They will do their part but won't set ovals alight any time soon in the Green and Gold.

We need to ensure the 10s have the right game plan to play to. Some of them are looking ordinary because they are playing plans that dont match their skills. Quade had a great pass, which Mckenzie let him use, and the reds were able to run teams around.
Dono and Carter have decent passes and like to run, let them do it. If we play a 10 man game like they did in europe any 10 will look crap.

This indicates how unconvincing every other candidate is. He's a decent player but also benefits from being in Aus highest performing side. His showings if done for the Force or Tahs wouldn't rate as high.

- Will admit I have no idea how Edmed earned his chance from the Tahs but JS seems to like a steady 10 if there isn't a stand out.

I'm not jumping out of my seat with our options but - I am excited to see both Lynagh and particularly Gordon get a full preseason of Super Rugby, a season of 16 games and the wallabies camps under Les Kiss before we get to the end of season games.

The last time we had that would have been Foley under Cheika. Dare I say that was the last time we had a solid reliable international flyhalf who was exceeding his standards in the 2015 Campaign.

Well said Homer. Carter and Donno are our two best and Kiss needs to let them run the backline.
