How long did he stay on after he got hurt? I was half asleep during the match and don't remember at all. If he came off pretty quickly and jogged off it could have just been adrenaline. Hopefully it's just that he isn't hurt badly.

Definitely going to look into that Arnica stuff. I have some pretty minor but chronic tendonitis in my left ankle from an injury when I was a kid. Also probably always going to have issues with swelling in my back from breaking it the other year, anything that I could topically apply to reduce the swelling (and the pressure on my nerves) would be amazing.

Then get yourself some Arnica post haste. Also, start eating a lot more Vitamin C, get those 1000mg tablets and take one each day at least. Its the main ingredient used to make collagen and elastin, which is what tendons/ligaments are made from.

Raw linseed oil is also really good for joints. If you can get a tin of it (woodworking/hardware stores will usually have some), and rub some of that onto the joints each night, you'll notice the difference within a week or two.

Also, Yoga.

Hey guys, new to the forum.

What do you make of Winston Stanley as a Wallabies prospect? Looked good at centre vs Rebels this weekend. He's capped with NZ U20's but that doesn't mean he's tied down does it?

I thought he was better last week and that he was good then.

Got hit, as he was falling he grabbed his shoulder and stayed down. Medic came out and he went straight off.
I was thinking at the time that it all looked fairly innocuous but really until he gets scanned we really have no idea.

Saw he had it in a sling while sitting on the bench - presumably and hopefully thats merely standard procedure and entirely precautionary at that stage.

Does this make difference to Izzie's selection prospects:
Parra say they don't want Tolman or fellow Dogs forward Frank Pritchard and they are convinced that Waratahs recruit Israel Folau, a player the Eels narrowly missed out on in the off-season, is close to signing or has already signed with Canterbury for 2014.

I think it depends. If he has already signed with the Dogs, and it is announced before the Lions/Rugby Champs, then I would be very hesitant to select him.

But at the same time you can't cut off your nose to spite your face, and if he is clearly in our best 15 players then I would pick him. We shouldn't pick a second rate player (and thus hurt the Wallabies) purely to stick to principle. If it comes down to a 50/50 selection decision, though, I would go for the other guy.

Pretty much agree but - one thing we all seem solid on is that IF will not be the finished product by Lions time.
I can see the argument that notwithstanding he's an unfinished product if he's better than anyone else in whatever role he is being considered for he should be picked.
The counter argument is that if we want to get away from the questionable team ethos we have seen from time to time we need to repay loyalty and reward those who truly put the team first. Not sure there's anyone likely to miss out who is clamouring for selection on that basis so it may be a dead letter when the time comes.

Qwerty... You must have made a mistake... I can count 6 Reds in there. As a Reds fan I'd have Horwill over Pyle, as Pyle's formed has dipped a little, and Palmer or Ryan over Slipper who I do not rate as a tighthead.

On another note, how is Manu progressing as a tighthead at the Force?

There isn't any real way of telling until the swelling goes down and they scan it.

From what I saw though, didn't look too bad. He was moving and circling his arm (with assistance) while on the field, and jogged off. Now I know from experience, that there isn't a chance in hell he's ruptured/dislocated etc the joint, because he sure as hell would not have jogged off, or even tried to move his arm while out there.

I reckon we might see him back about 2 weeks before the Lions, which would be excellent (less time to get injured again).

That was my impression, having done a grade 3 year myself you are definitely in a lot of pain and he didn't seem lovely fussed about the whole thing.

If he has done a AC injury before then he may already have a protruding clavicle which could lend to why they thought it was a grade 3

If he has done grade 3 he is out of the Lions series, I think it's more likely a grade 1 or 2 and he will be back in 4ish weeks.

From Phil Gould's column today. Equally applicable to Rugby.

But what does the coach do about the player with the low care factor? Especially when this player is highly talented, media and fans are covering him with adoration, and the player is living in a state of delusion about his real contributions both to his own career and the fortunes of the team.
How do you turn a player around who does not care? How do players get like this? Did we give them too much too early; too much exposure, too much adoration, too much money? Do we fill their lives with too many distractions away from training and playing that can have them mentally exhausted by game day and unable to perform? Did we create the false impression that success in this game comes easily and that talent can replace hard work, toughness and desire? Is it our fault? Should we be doing more to help them? Or is it up to the player? Do we just hit him with reality and see how he handles the truth?
The problem here is that quite often these days if a coach admonishes, criticises or as a last resort drops a talented player, his manager is on the phone defending the player and blaming others for player's failings. It's never his client's fault. How does the player learn, how do they change, if people keep justifying and supporting the poor attitude they possess?
Like I said, the vast majority of players in the game today, and those kids aspiring to be in the game one day, are highly motivated, self-motivated, hard-working, resilient young men who give 100 per cent of themselves in everything they do. They are a pleasure to play with, and a pleasure to coach.
Maybe that's the answer. Just pick those players.

I$$Y. Played everyone for the money. It should be a factor in my view and he is not in my 23. He will be good for the Tahs but the Wallabies will do fine without him.

Can't blame him for his agent outplaying the ARU. If his agent was able to convince them that his earning potential was equivalent to a 400k top-up then that is good for him, but not a reflection of the player's character in any way.

If you had 10 years to make enough money to hopefully retire on (or last you until you start or find a new career afterwards) you would be doing everything you could to maximize your earning potential as well.

Hopefully Hugh has some good luck & is only out for a month or so. I think It is the same shoulder that he injured when Sam Tuitupo tackled him in 2006, I love watching Folau & I would pick him as my starting fullback in the Lions series as Beale has done nothing, James O'conner seems off the pace & he seems safer than Mogg under the high ball & a better defender.

Playing for the Wallabies is one thing that could keep Folau in rugby since it's a unique experience that league doesn't have.
