Mate I like you, I cannot ever understand why you would leave early regardless of how the result looks. I stay glued to my seat until after final whistle.
On the game , as a neutral I think you right, for some eason right from kick off Wallabies didn't look to be in the contest. I don't know if the Boks hit them hard early and they were gun shy, but they certainly never looked like winning, or really being that close.
Losing Tupou during the warm up might have taken the wind out of their sails. But from the comfort of my armchair, the Saffers looked as though they had all been injected with crankiness. Right from the kick off they looked as though they were going to do whatever it took to win.

We caught the Boks napping last weekend. They were probably guilty of taking the Wallabies lightly (and maybe picking a 2nd string team based off what happened tonight).

They started with so much energy and emotion, I think the halftime score flattered the Wallabies.

The reffing was annoying, very referee centric game. It didn’t help us, but also I don’t think we were a shot at winning. For me, the spectacle was quite poor as a game, watching it with neutrals and most had nodded off with 20mins to go. Stop start and messy rucks.

The Boks v Argies will be interesting. So hard to gauge where everyone actually sits.

I've never really had a good look before but is Topou overweight, it looked so in the half time vision?
Does Kolosi lead with the shoulder every time he rucks it up?

That''s pretty crap, you remember the play the ball ethos of GGR?
How many “South Africans” (other than the squad) are flying back there today?
My statement was made on the back of another comment and after a large portion of the crowd booed every White involvement. White possibly deserved it, but the Boks have practiced cynical gamesmanship like injuries to forwards at scrum time if the game tempo is too high and staying down to draw penalties/cards forever.

We were never in it, they bossed the game

Being at the new ground was amazing. The crowd noise and atmosphere was great. Worth the wait. Australia played some dumb footy though but credit to the Boks. We didn’t look like we wanted it enough?

On another matter, as identified on twitter, it was interesting to see Duane Vermeulen named on the bench AND running the water in the first half.

He certainly does not look to be in good nick, although he must be getting through the training and DR says he has never seen him better?

It seems he still has his head in the clouds about how much money he allegedly is worth overseas? Maybe a reality check big man?

Drew, that is not what your statement was. Not the one that people are unhappy with anyway.

I think it kind of is coaching isn’t it? I mean at this level your key role as a coach is to ensure the players are ready did the game they are playing. We weren’t clearly.
And it’s not like this SA reaction would’ve been unexpected either. Look at them during the Lions series. A team has the temerity to beat them and it all turns pretty spiteful. So how can we not be ready for that?

Piss of with this speculation about what an individual is thinking, it’s not needed.

he was injured for 10-12 weeks, couldn’t do any lower body training and then the Wallabies rush him back early because AAA was injured. Tupou should have had a conditioning program and return to game time in club rugby, not thrown in at test level.

Yeah I’m not sure about that. We were sitting on half way up high and from that perspective the intensity of the game was insane. I don’t think it’s right to say we weren’t prepared mentally, I think the issue was that basic skills and discipline let us down, and when that happens it upsets the mindset and confidence, which causes more errors and indiscipline. We all read about and criticise the coaching setup but I reckon the most important person in the Wallabies shed right now is the sports psychologist, and should be their biggest investment. I could go on with the role of the stats man but I’ll save that for another day!
