I reckon Kepu will play loosehead and neither Slipper nor Sio will play. Both have played lots of minutes this year and are crucial for the RWC.

That's a great point. Slipper has been busy. Perhaps that is why HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) was brought in, in addition to Robertson I believe? If both Robertson and HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) are there, then I'd say you are right. If only 1 is, then Slipper will play, but perhaps off the bench.

Interesting that Powell isn't playing despite being part of the shadow squad and Johnson-Holmes and Maddocks despite being there for part of the Noumea camp.

Congratulations to Valetini, let’s hope he does some damage. Happy that Banks is getting more minutes, half these blokes are only an injury away from getting called into the RWC as a replacement. So this is still very much an audition. Powell missing out is odd, might imply that Phipps is very much viewed as the 3rd choice scrummie. Cheika might prefer an experienced veteran than parachuting Powell into a quarterfinal for example. I think Maddocks might still be a bit injured.

Phipps was very good for uni in Shute shield final

If Maddocks was a bit injured then it's odd to send him over at all.

I do like the look of this team. Except for DHP on the wing, I reckon he's either a fullback option or suited up in the crowd. Aside from that it's a great mix of proven and emerging talent, blokes who need some more minutes, and a few last minute RWC auditions.

Also interesting that Kuridrani has been left right out..
Doesn’t need to prove much does he I guess. out of the potential centres in the squad (JO’C, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), To'omua), he has the least to prove. The rest need to stake their respective claims.

Aside from Banks, that starting XV could easily have been our best in gold a few years ago. This team is definitely not pulling any punches, no Rocket Rods in sight.

I was thinking a similar thing, it's nice to be wheeling out a B team that actually doesn't look like a B team. Perhaps Cheika's 'depth building' which was largely criticised is reaping some rewards..

I don’t get it, is LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) simply not giving back the 6 jersey?
It’s certainly odd. If he’s first choice he should be rested. If he’s not first choice then someone else should get a crack. The only explanation I can think of is getting him up to speed with the 6 responsibilities, pun intended.
