To say he was upset about being bought on was an understatement. He said he would have preferred not to go on at all but it was what it was.

That's the kind of desire you want from your aspiring players. To make the bench.

Not everything is racist, but pointing out so specifically quickly becomes it.

Same thing for Tom Lynagh born in Italy or Richard Hardwick and Namibia but capped for Aus?

Settle down mate, a very simple thing to say that we dont need to continue to import players from the Pacific Islands - as an example Vunivalu offers no benefit to Australian rugby, we should be working with players that have been here be it born or from a very young age rather than poaching players who arent Australian and couldnt possibly feel the same way about playing for Australia as someone born here or raised here. Not everything is racist.
Wonder if you have the same opinion with David Pocock?

not at all Pocock was here since he was a kid and not parachuted in as an adult with little or no attachment to Australia other than a pay cheque. Which is fine, but play for Fiji...

The two players you've mentioned, Vunivalu and Koroibete, both moved from Fiji as teenagers.

Hardwick moved to Aus as a kid and was schooled here, Lynagh again different kettle of fish as he has a connection to Aus. I am talking about players with no connection to Australia and purely playing for Australia based on where they are contracted.

Don't think it's got much to do with them. NZ has had plenty of blokes born outside the borders that are elite performers.

I'd also say something like this would be pretty hurtful to a guy like Marika who has put his body on the line and been one of our best for a long time now.

Vunivalu was an adult when he moved to Melbourne, did all his schooling in NZ. He cannot possibly have the same connection to Australia. Marika did not move to Australia until he was an adult again no deep connection to Australia, completely different to your pococks, samu's hardwicks etc...

This is a bit awkward when Quade still wasn't an Aussie citizen until last year.......

Rather than signing rugby league wingers why don’t we start trying to sign South African or Argentinian/Georgian props. Get them to move here and qualify on residency basis (remember Noriega). Everyone (except Hamish) knows the game is won up front.

Maybe it was the fact the team had played like crap and were losing and they decided to let him make his debut in that situation with 4 minutes to go. I’m guessing he would have been keen as mustard to get on, but given at least 20 or 30 minutes to get into the game. Lolesio should have been hooked way earlier or stayed. It’s an insult to do that to a young player. Watch the game again. Australia were crap. Dropped the ball off the kick off too! But Donaldson copped it for losing the game by missing the kick. Poor coaching from Rennie in that instance.
