Wallabies v Lions - 3rd Test, Accor Stadium, Saturday 2 August

How great to see the Wallabies back up last week's performance with another great effort. Smart strategy well executed, by and large, and tremendous passion.

Whilst it was a shame that we didn't have some of our best players available for all three tests, it did seem that they finished the series still with plenty of energy, versus the Lions who made few changes across the three tests.

The criticism of lynagh are a bit harsh. His first 3 starts are against the Lions in a series we lost by the smallest of margins..to me he's shown enough to be our long term 10 for the world cup. I would however like to see him managed over the RC though...id hate to see him cope another bad head knock against the boks on tour.

Would be content to see donaldson get a start on tour just to share the load

More needs to be done to protect players. The player that hit Lynagh should get an extensive ban to send a message that it is not tolerated- that will send the clearest message of all.

Just re-watched the game.
Just loved the aggression of the Wallabies particularly in defence. And they were all in on it, with White absolutely winding up everyone in a red jersey.
Skelton and Tupou were great - obviously we got lucky that we could get an extra 20 mins out of each with the lightning delay, but that applied for both teams. White had a belter.
Hooper - even better than I thought on 1st watch.
Ikitau very good, JAS and Jorgensen also strong, Pietsch is a real competitor.
Williams with the best cameo.
Really good performance, not least of all considering the conditions.
Oh, and Owen Farrell is a knob.

This Wallaby team is a quantum leap better than when Joe took over and the improvement in physicality and mongrel even since the first half of the first test is noteworthy. If this group can stay together and play as hard for each other as they clearly are currently then I think MUCH better days are ahead.

I'll also say that the skill level has jumped up too, the short passing especially. That was a hallmark of Ireland when Joe was in charge so it's no surprise to see it on display here.

Joe indicated that they only ran them both around 5mins longer than they'd planned (and Joe shoots pretty straight so I believe him), so the benefit of the break may be a little overstated, not to mention everyone got a breather (ie. their forwards also).

Fair call. It was more "an extra 20mins" compared to last week, but I take your point.

And it begins. Last week it was all about the Aussies whinging and Carlo diving. Now the UK press is having a good old whinge and they won't mention bierns epic dive I bet

all the stuff they are whinging about this week is what we were whinging about last week and they don't see the irony. And we were whinging about one call that would have won the game. Lions got belted
