all around interesting selections. i would have played Horwill and McCalman in the XV, with Mumm and McMahon on the bench. I would have left the backline alone as Cheik has done. by tomorrow night we will know if he is a genius or just mortal like all the other coaches in the world.

Mumm probably covers more positions (lock & loose forward) than Horwill (lock), who played quite well when he came on in the first test.
But Mumm doesn't really inspire me - plays the seagull role well.

But Mumm is on the bench?

Given Braveheart's comment earlier about everyone and their dog taking the field for the captain's run, I wonder if Cheika really hadn't decided on his locks and back row and just announced a team early on Wednesday night so that the media would start talking about us instead of Eddie. I'm not saying it will happen but there's nothing stopping McCalman starting wearing jersey number 20 is there?

It's interesting that Pocock had a "quiet" game, when he made two turnovers and the only penalty against him was absolute coddleswallop and should have went the other way

He was certainly one of our better players but few rated him in our top 5 (evidenced by the voting in the MOTM thread). By Pocock's standards that is a quiet game.

How was the penalty ridiculous? He was beaten by the ruck. Sure, sometimes he is not going to get penalised for that and will win the ball but it's hardly surprising he got penalised.

I'd prefer McCalman starting too but it will have little affect on the games strategy with either McMahon or McCalman. So it would be a pointless ploy.

Interesting Mumm is the lock replacement. Thought Horwill would be the better choice.

Cheika certainly has favouritism for Mumm and McMahon.

Mumm's lineout work would be more favourable........

Managed a couple of steals last weekend and might take over the calling when he gets on the field.
