Looks like there's some homework for a few people to study how the wingers work, how often if ever they switch where they are, drop back to play second fullback etc.

My expectation is certainly that Kellaway won't try and play the same game as Koroibete.

It's been interesting cogitating this, BH. I would think that the play books and game expectations will be massaged, but surely some continuity to parts of the thinking? I'd imagine a) the same expectations regarding work ethic and speed doubling behind the line to create overlap; b) If Kellaway is not going to be getting in to back up Kerevi and ready to form the ruck, that would still need to be picked up. #6 possibly?

Edit: may be not the same game as Koroibete, but I don't think it's the same game that Kellaway has been playing either.

I agree that Kellaway will be tasked with a slightly different role to what he normally and some of that will be more dropping back to fullback in general play. Others will be off set moves etc. directly replacing Koroibete's role in those plays.

I don't think we're going to see him with the pick and go etc. that Koroibete does a lot because it just isn't his game (and is something pretty unique to Koroibete).

In summary, Kellaway will do the things that are the specific job of that position but not the things that Koroibete does that are really just elements of his game.

agree with Adam84, Lonergan is completely underwhelming imo, and at the moment just too small for Test footy, Kaitu'u has looked really good to me, and although biased thought Uelese did well in his appearances. cannot understand the love for Lonergan.

Kaitu'u has looked good in the nice tight jersey, shame he can't hit the side of a house when throwing. While Uelese has improved on that front, his vaunted scrummaging didn't influence the result while he was on the field in earlier tests. Neither have great work rates. So potentially they see more upside in Lonergan and are happy to give him another taste this weekend in the hope that the experience helps down the track if he can find an extra 5+ kgs and chip away at his throwing.

Just a general comment D, but perhaps it is an ability to play the type of role that Rennie wants. Could be why the likes of Swain, Swinton, Samu, Lolesio, Gordon, Wright and Banks are around the Squad and are used from time to time in the 23. Some clearly need more time to mature but perhaps they understand and play the Rennie way?

Looks like we're so used to putting out our 'best' team every week that when our coaches pick players for squad development, we freak out and ask the inevitable question. What did they drop such and such for? Well, this is what development looks like.

Uelese was very good when he came on. He threw well and scrummaged very well except for one scrum where his LH folded in I think. He also had plenty to do when he scored that try off a late lineout. Every time he has played test rugby he looks very much at home.The same cannot be said for the others outside of BPA. But BPA is off to France soonish.
TBF FF (Folau Fainga'a) looked much better and fitter in the test last week. He had a good game. Kaitu’u and Lonergan have not been good.
Adding Latu will make the bench much stronger but do not see the logic around releasing JU at only 24 with decent test form over time. They will come back to him at some point.

Watching a few rebels games at Leichhardt oval where close to the action I really remember how much of a strong scrummager Uelesse was and recall a game where rebels scrum held its own against strong highlanders scrum but as soon as uelesse went off and was replaced by Hansen the highlanders absolutely dominated the rebels scrum.

Good on Greg Holmes for making it another cap at his age, but to what end? If we're unhappy with our current props, we should be blooding new ones. It's not as if Holmes is going to be in the next World Cup. Isn't Pone Fa'amausili worth a try?
Hell, I'd rather just let Harry Johnson Holmes have a crack at it. At least he's eager.

It is an amazing achievement. And while I love Taniela’s larger than life persona I’ll always love blokes like Holmes. No carry on, no bullshit bravado or chest thumping. Just gets the job done.
