isn't he borderline blind? Unless he's had laser surgery of late, but I heard that from a team mat last year.
Well I just feel bad now.

I went on tour with him a couple times as a teenager and his eyesight seemed fine but this is 10+ years ago.

It was both him and Ala'alatoa on that first penalty. Arguably Ala'alatoa was more at fault as he was there first after Skelton stepped back in his direction and ended up taking no one.

I think Uelese drops out of the 23 but I'll be surprised if Porecki isn't starting again with Faessler on the bench.

yeah it was AAA part to blame as well, I was more making a point of DP, between the 5 of DP. JU, MF, FF (Folau Fainga'a) or LL you could pick any one of them at 2 & anyone of them at 16 & your not going to get a different result they are all not upto international standard. If DP gets another cap good on him & if Fessler gets his 1st than awesome but we are going to need better field position, kick our goals & not let the opposition score 40+ on the trot

Bloody amazing that Jordan can't nail his throws. With due respect it's not that difficult, I reckon it must be a nerves/mental game time thing. I assume he can probably throw fine at training then shits it when the game starts which is why he keeps getting picked. It's such a trainable skill too, just go away and do it 500 times after training, don't need to become Usain Bolt quick or Skelton big, just throw the fucking ball straight.
Sounds like an old pedantic thing to say but I've watched a lot of these guys and how they throw it and their are flaws in technique. Sometimes this gets worse through a game due to factors such as fatigue. You see after they release the ball their hands basically blow apart. This type of throw will be lucky to go anywhere near where you want. Just like passing in general play the ball goes where your hands go. You can see them in the warm ups. They throw and hold the shape and what do you know, throw hits the mark or their little paddle they hold up.

I feel bad for laughing at this. I've probably made this comment that he needs it.

Anyway, my initial mention of Porecki was only in relation to Skelton and our lineout being fine with him on the field. Obviously the lineout was an issue once Uelese took the field.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Uelese-Gibbon-Fa'aumalisi be the bench front row again, much to the chagrin of many on here.

It might be worth re-visiting your basic physics. Skelton isn't sitting on AAA.

Edit: LeCheese beat me to it.
I appreciate the Year 12 physics lesson. Maybe you could get in contact with ROG and the La Rochelle coaching team - it seems they must've missed the memo on Skelton's lack of 'weight' in the scrum. I wonder if Mark McCall at Sarries would concur with your hypothesis? I find it astounding that some many Aussie punters write off the bloke that's won 4 x Champion's Cup, 2 x Premiership titles and a Super Rugby title.

There are a lot more breakdowns than line outs & he is useless in them
Another problem with Australian rugby is our infatuation with hookers that must play like a second openside. They have two primary jobs - throw the ball in straight & win their scrums. Everything after that is a bonus. We can't be picking hookers, and props for that matter, based on their ability around the park. How many times recently have we seen a hooker miss a vital lineout?

I think we should be picking ones that win contact & are a beast at the breakdown, the best in the world are all like that

Might as well play Adam Freier if all we care about is striking and throwing, he's still running around for Randwick no?

By that logic lets just pick a 7 at hooker. Who cares about the set piece anyway?

If the AB's were to pick based on contributions around the park alone then someone like Asafo Aumua would be first on the team sheet. But there seems to be a reason why he hasn't played consistent test footy. He doesn't execute his primary role - consistently throwing a straight lineout.

nobody regards Marx throwing as his best attribute

6-0-8 in Seconds Grade - 9th of 12
1-0-12 in Thirds - 11th of 11
Haven't won a Colts game all year from 27 attempts (average margin 44 point loss).
Not fielding 4th Grade or Colts 3 as required.

Great win over Uni but hardly ripping it up

They crushed the Woodies, in their home game, and should have beaten us at Millner. BTW they were given 4 YCs against the Camperdown Corporation. At one stage they had 12 players. That is ripping it up in my language.

Firstly, Malcom Marx is an anomaly around the park - we don't have anyone that comes close. Secondly, his throwing has been the subject of a fair bit of SA media and fan criticism. Something he has said he has had to work on repeatedly.

Exactly my point, he has had criticism (which he has improved) & yet is still the best in the world if all you want is someone to throw it in 10 times a game pick DP but we are leaking points left right & centre with him out there

Isn't the issue that we don't have anyone who is obviously better? At this point it seems like the top two choices are Porecki and Faessler who are solid at set piece and serviceable around the park but nowhere near superstars.

Jordan Uelese was thought of that person who could provide more physicality and hopefully not let the side down at lineout time but the former wasn't obvious and the latter was clearly a big problem.

Maybe Lonergan will have a storming game against Tonga and come back into consideration?

Wait, just so I get this right, you're attributing Australia's defensive woes to Porecki? Sure, he's no Malcolm Marx around the park but he's efficient at lineout time and does his role during phase play well enough. I'm not sure who you would rather in his place? Here are our options:
- Faessler - 24yo uncapped player
- Uelese - poor bloke can't cop an injury free run, perennially underdone on the fitness front.
- FF (Folau Fainga'a) - walking penalty magnet and has his own issues at lineout time.
- Lonergan - 100kg's dripping wet - good around the park but has his issues come set piece.
