Wallabies v Argentina @ CommBank Stadium 7.45pm Sat 15/07

Marce

John Hipwell (52)
Has @Marce actually contributed anything constructive to this thread?
That's right cause this is probably the worst full strenght WBs side I can remember. I saw bad performances in times of Deans, McKenzie, Cheika or Rennie but always missing some key players or injury crisis.

I never see a full strenght WBs side at home playing so pathetic rugby. And this is the full strenght side, no excuses. You are missing Tupou and no more. Maybe Kellaway and that's all. Hooper is not the best openside flanker on form anymore

Thoughts:
- Fire Wright into outer space. "If you don't know me by now, you'll never, never, ever know me." We know you mate.
- Kerevi looked way off the pace, but not surprising given he's been injured. Hope Ikitau is OK.
- They need post match penalties for fake injuries/diving. They do this in NHL hockey and it is warranted.
- Some inexplicable refereeing decisions. The use of the TMO is totally inconsistent.
- I can't imagine the EJ (Eddie Jones) experiment is going to work in the short-term. The team would have performed far better than this under Dave Rennie.
- Discipline is bad, shoveling the ball is bad.
- Despite all of that the individual players didn't look bad for the most part. But as a group they look confused. The good news is that most of the problems are fixable.
- It seems highly improbable that they can fix everything in time for the RWC. There's too much to work on.
- I thought Gordon, Skelton, Quade, Holloway were stand outs, relatively speaking.

Too slow and as events showed at the end, lacking a bit of smarts too. Cooper, Kerevi and Koroibete all well below par this game.
Have a feeling though that no matter what Quade did, you'd say he was below par :D

Other than that high shot (which was borderline) at the end I thought he played well - especially for a 10 who had a major shuffle to his centre pairing 17 mins in.....

I still wonder at where Cooper and Kerevi are both really at in relation to their historic fitness levels.

Koroibete I felt was well below his standard in this game.

That said, they're still quality players. The try they were all involved in. Quade's kicking from the tee was very good. I felt they warmed into the game somewhat.

What positives can we take away from that performance?
Most of the errors are fixable, like bad discipline. Also seemed like the offensive systems are not well embedded. That can improve. They looked good at set piece. I thought man for man the players didn't look terrible. Far less than the sum of their parts.

Except the high tackle or late tackle were both marginal decisions that wouldn't have been looked at if it wasn't for a soccer dive. But all power to you if you're happy with that shit creeping into the game.
Well that's what happens when you play Argentina with Saffer refs and TMOs. Got to expect and behave for it.

Don’t tell me, more brumbies will fix it right?
Maybe. Certainly should use players who performed well during this Super Rugby season. Too many (old) slow players in the squad based on past reputation. Like to see Corey Toole given an opportunity as speed would be useful. Wright had a shocker. Mark N (Nawaqanitawase) had great moments in attack but his defence leaked.

Waco Jaco letting opposition have a nice lie down at the back of rucks was a bit of a jarring sight after seeing it pinged to death all through soup rugby

Great old ding dong for the neutral. Bit of squeaky bum time for the aussie viewers. Match highlight, Coach Eddie up in the box throwing a headset sook
