I've never heard of load management for place kicking, maybe if he had side or groin strain I could understand but he still kicked in play. Just a bizarre decision for me for Hodge to take those kicks he did.

Pretty common practice to reduce load/flexion/extension - happened with both JOC (James O'Connor) and Isaac Henry coming back from leg injuries at the Reds last couple of seasons
