While the box kick was poorly executed, it didn't cost us the match.........

Our forwards struggled to hang onto the ball in the phases previous, and when we got let off the hook when Slade missed touch, we couldn't hang onto the ball again...........

Our bench forwards really let us down in those last few minutes....... And if we were going to kick it we needed someone else to punt it further downfield, and no one stepped up.

Disappointing finish considering so many of our starting XV played damn well.

Just off the pitch and I'm gutted. I haven't read the 25 pages I've missed but I will say What the fuck was Nic White fucking thinking. 90n seconds was all we had to hold the ball for and the fluffbunny kicks it to them.

And fluffbunny is not what I called him when he did it.

Utterly undeserved win.

Aus with the sublime handling for first 70, Kurindrani and Foloa making real inroads, Aus just did not cough it up while NZ's structured stuff just looked staid. The only inroads Fekitoa made were playing himself OUT of the motherfcking EOYT. He's a new All Black. He doesnt get to have "off days". Ask Francis Saili. EVERY time Fekitoa took it into contact he failed to squeeze it back and gave it up BUT OH FUCK HOLD THE PHONES HE'S GONE AND CANTERED IN FOR THE WINNING TRY. I still reckon with SBW and Nonu to come in Fekitoa has sealed his fate with that display EOYT wise.

Nah, he gave a pretty marginal penalty against McCaw with minutes to go. He also let a few not straights in the lineout go WBs way.

Can't blame the ref tonight. I thought he did alright.

@Teach, the rules are simple. if we lose, it is the refs fault.

It can't be due to inaccuracy, poor execution and decision making by the Men in Gold, or pressure by the Opposition.

There's a lesson there if the dopes running the asylum could stop preening themselves in front of the media and concentrate on the game.
While Phipps was on there was not a single short kick.
Foley did a dumb grubber then Folau tried one and then White box kicked and then kicked from the base in the 22 to hand them the game.
FUCKING SHORT KICKS ARE SHIT AND DO NOT WORK.
We hold the ball we're in the game we start kicking it away other than for field position and we lose. Simple really.

We "handed them the game" by not being capable of stopping them from a 22m lineout with a minute to go. It could have been the same outcome if their penalty kick had gone out. The box kick was a shit kick but there was ample opportunity after that to stop them scoring the try.

Australia played that game 'off the cuff'. Each played their 'natural'
game. Then the 'coach' had his input with the bench amd down the drain the Aussies went. When i saw MOM Slipper go off and 'Box kick Nick' come on I knew it was all over.

Yeah I always thought Slipper's scrumming was a bit better than Nic. Definitely weird substitution!

people blaming white :(

We were getting fucking dominated at the breakdown at that point. We were under serious pressure. Where was foley or the folau to kick it downfield? The kick was ordinary, but it's not a circumstance where "just hang onto it" would have paid guaranteed dividends. They'd tried this in the previous possession and lost a penalty.

Jesus you have to be able to defend for 1 minute and a half from a set piece. We can't base our entire strategy around 100% possession.

In the dying minutes of a match and you are less than 7 in front or less than 7 behind, you maintain possession at all costs.
DO. NOT. KICK. THE. BALL.

Because you don't have to defend for a minute and a half - if the opposition are good enough they can keep the ball alive and in play for minutes.

Foley should have been hooked for Quade as soon as he put that cross kick to nobody in.

Slim. The box kick cost us the match. There is no getting around it. It was a massive mistake.

No it didn't. Our inability to (a) close the game out on our second to last possession, and (b) stop them on their last possession is what cost us the game.

We were getting fucked at the breakdown prior to the box kick. At least we had a chance to realign at the lineout.

In the past year Boks have beaten them, Aus have drawn, Ire and Aus have both been ahead on the 80th minute mark. In the Summer tour England too only lost by a point in the second test (28-27 wasn't it?) over in Hamilton. Boks almost won there too this year.

This AB team is most certainly beatable, theyre winning games but they're not an unstoppable force smashing every and any team. The thing they have is just an unrivalled ethos and winning mentality that sadly no other international team can match. But team for team they are definately beatable ahead of the RWC.

Man O man o man o man. What's there to say. I've calmed down a little. I've spent the last 10 minutes yelling and screaming and kicking stuff. Soooooooo frustrating and disappoitning. It's ruined my weekend.
Good game but when are we going to learn to win close games....or actually win against the All Blacks. A loss by 1 is not much different than a loss by 20.
At least the boys really looked like they were putting in, but, oh my God.
Why do we go to pieces in the last 10 minutes.
Surely that's the end of James Horwill & Ben Alexander. They've been great servants of the game but look past it (Horwill's attempted tackle on Kiwi 9 was pathetic; Alexander dropped a potential try). Otherwise Ewen comes across as stupid. Why persist with deadwood. I want some oomph from our reserves. The starters gave it a decent crack.
Some may blame Foley for last missed tackle and he probably should have made it but they shouldn't have been down there. Why oh why did White put up a box kick with 2 minutes to go in their own 22 metre area. That's where the game was lost in my opinion. He played well apart from that.
But that was a brain explosion that the Kiwis never seem to have.
Whine over. I'm going to mope around for the rest of the weekend.
well done All Blacks...and well done to thee Aussies for 70 minutes. Gotta learn to play for the 80 though.

Joe Tomane is he didn't want to fucking kick it should've at least passed it and gone sideways. Don't run it fucking back to a pod of Blacks from where it came from.

Yeah, I was wondering what he was doing there. Tomane had so much time to either line up for a long punt downfield, or pass to a guy who was set to kick. What annoyed me is that he had time to think, and took the wrong option.

But anyway, it was a cracker of a game. Absolutely gutted we lost, but I am heartened by the performances and the heart shown by pretty much the whole team. Higgers finally put in that game in gold I have been wanting him to for years now. The Lilo-Kuridrani combo was brilliant. Not many guys would cause Conrad Smith to lose much sleep, but I would put money on Kuridrani being one who does. Fardy was a monster too, and Nick Phipps had a cracker. There were some pretty good performances across the park.

The old Simpsons reference to "we were beaten by the best" rings out to me now. Full credit to the ABs, again they pull a game out of the fire. Their utter professionalism and never say die attitude is something to be admired.
