As expected. What does Brown have to do or not do to get dropped.

Nil impact at breakdown, palmed off twice for two tries, 200 runs for 10 metres. I just don't understand, when you have Hogdson of the pine who will 100% and has shown he has the right attitude. When the Force were at the their lowest ebb this year Hodgeson was a really bright point, in fact I thought the backrow went not better and perhaps was less effective when Brown returned.

Yep. Hodgson and Sharpie were magnificent during those dark days earlier in the year. I really want to see him rewarded for the ticker he has shown. I'm happy for the Faainga boys to have been selected on the same basis. As Godfrey said before, fifteen blokes having a good hard rip at it is what we need.

My dad raised a great point - I know the Fainga'a twins aren't the be all and end all, but they are gutsy players who play above their weight. That's exactly what we need to see from the Wallabies.

I just wish that Cooper was playing inside of Ant. It will be very hard for Ant to provide a straight option to Gits, if Gits is running sideways into him all the time.

I like the centre pairing I think this is what we need in the backline two blokes that run & tackle hard although I think we'd be better with Quad giving the service.

If quad was inside them it would almost be Larkham, Grey & Herbert making a comeback.

Let me add that I'm pumped for A. Finger -- been looking forward to him playing in green and gold all year. Just wish he got a better run last weekend!

I'm sorry, there is just something inherently wrong about the statement "I'm pumped for A Finger"

I think I'd still like one more playmaking back in that mix. Quade, Giteau and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) would probably be my preferred mix, but at the same time I hope Anthony does well on the weekend.

Maybe that's what Beale will provide. Deans used Leon MacDonald as a playmaker despite him playing at 15.

But if you get the forward stuff right, the backs should take care of itself IMO. Win the collisions and make the Abs commit numbers and Giteau won't have a need to crab.

In my opinion this is a better 22 than last weeks. If we had Brown out, with either McCalman or Higginbum on the pine or in the XV I would be completely satisfied given the troops available.

Fainga'a plays his ass off this weekend and really relaly impresses, this could change the whole landscape of the Wallabies backline. I love the idea of Giteau coming off the bench as an Impact player, and allowing the extra forward on the bench. Giteau acts as a Halfback and Inside back and the other reserve can be an Outside Bac/Winger.

I don't know what Brown's doing though

Absolutely agree. It will be fascinating to see how this all pans out, because it is (even if forced) a significant departure from how we play our backline footy at present. Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention and I guess we'll find out on Saturday.

Should Gits happen to get stuck in a ruck then Beale or JOC (James O'Connor) could step in as backup playmakers and actually I wouldn't mind seeing an attacking play involving Beale receiving a cut out from Gits then having AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Finger, Mitchell and JOC (James O'Connor) options (or even Rocky) around him.

That would indeed be exciting. I will admit to being a little disappointed with Kurtley and had hoped that he kicked on a bit more, but that could be as much to do with listening to the Sydney hype machine as anything. This is a big game for him.

I, like many others here it seems, like A Finger

However, my reservations here are as much about who's outside as inside him. I think a ball player with an offload at 13 (like Chambers, Horne for the Tahs or even Diggers) is important with him as he's AF's such a direct runner. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is another runner, think I'm yet to see a sweet offload, chip kick etc from AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper).

Agree with all the other play-making talent in this lineup (KB (Kurtley Beale)), but in set piece play wonder about the positional balance.

But for this week, will be interesting to see how the double running, hard defending pairing works out. Perhaps with less scrums and lineouts this is balance at first phase is less of a concern?

I rate JOC (James O'Connor), but god it will be nice to have another genuine winger out there when Shepperd gets on the field.

good point gags. someone has to pass... but maybe there will be less shunting it down the line with this set up? with that many running options you'd think some deception or cut outs could confuse the AB's as to who should actually be marked. too bad quade is probably the best to exploit that.

beale will have to be on his toes as he's the only other real kicking option (i guess AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) can). if kurtley is up in the line as a play maker there won't be much of a kicking option from the back. if gits gets tackled in our own 22 it could get messy...

EDIT: now that i think about it, JO'C and schmoo have played kicking roles in the past and aren't too bad. so really only fanger is unfamiliar with putting boot to ball. but it more comes down to who do you prefer to have kicking. i think i'd go with gits or beale over them. and gits can't get it out on the full when needed.
