Agree Slim. What we should all accept is that we have three players trying to fit into two spots, Foley, Beale and Hunt as 10 and 12. Izzy missing allows one to fill in at 15, but when Izzy returns only two of the three should start and one on the bench.

Hodge, Kuridrani and Koroibete really should now be locked in at 11, 13 and 14 respectively. Any fiddling with them must be avoided.
Poor old Naiavalu. Scores some great tries in gold only to get injured opening the door for Koroibete to stake his claim as a world class winger. It's a cruel game sometimes.

Ideally, for RWC19 we have Koro and Naivalu fit and rotating. I think i rate Koro a little higher but theres not much lost with Naivalu. Speight just doesn't run as hard or fast as either.

DHP is also going to have a hard time getting back into the team........... great for depth though.

Yeah not sure whether I haven’t seen enough of Speight lately, but with a fit Naivalu, does that shunt Speight out of the reckoning if we are to develop players like Banks I wonder. I think we’re all pining for a Jake White coached Speight from a few years ago who (along with Mogg) was tearing it up at soup. The sevens program sadly also didn’t turn Speight into a killer winger finisher we’d hoped for

With Mr. "call up Liam Wright & Folau Fainga'a" Cheika in charge, it's impossible to know who he sees as the obvious replacement for the tour.

Is Dane HP back for spring tour? Can Mr Fix-It Hodgey play there? Is Andrew Kellaway a smokey, or even Jack Maddocks? Quade?!? Tom Banks?

Kellaway has gone backwards from his initial promising season with the Tahs.

Yep agree, if you give it to Marika or Sefa 20 out with a bit of space you'd back them to get over the line 9 times out of 10. Speight doesn't seem to be quite at that level at the moment.

DHP is also going to have a hard time getting back into the team..... great for depth though.

Going into the 2015 World Cup some of our best options on the wing were a converted centre in Horne and an ageing Drew Mitchell who had the skills but had lost all his pace. Now we've got 2 excellent speedsters in Koroibete and Naiavalu as well as Speight who's not far behind when he's at his best. Added to that are two great hybrid fullback/wingers in DHP and Hodge who bring an extra element with their kicking game. We look to be in a far better position going forwards than we were a couple of years ago.

Not the way I see it. We have Foley and no other for the 10 slot. Wisdom of this will be tested very likely at some point. We have Beale, Folau and Hunt fighting for 12, 14 and 15. The choice to leave one out (or on the bench) is just that, a choice.

None of them are going to play 14 though? Which is our one specialist winger spot.

Generally speaking if guys are playing well, it is harder to lose a jersey than to win one - but form and fitness invariably fluctuate. Two days ago Folau had locked down the 15 jersey. Now suddenly he isn’t available.

Hats off the Hodge, Koroibete etc who have taken a very firm grip on their jersey but it doesn’t mean other guys won’t get a shot. Who knows - maybe they’ll do even better than the incumbents.

Good debate to be having. Can’t wait until we have this problem in the halves and backrow.

In terms of wingers looking good in the NRC, he is well down on the list, there are half a dozen outside backs who i would rate well above Kellaway on recent form, especially given he is full-time and should be playing to a higher standard then the other amateur players.

Would like to see RHP travel.
He had surgery and I believe is out until next year.

....

With the form of Hodge and Korobeite I feel like they are now the first choice wingers and are a good contrast to each other. DHP will compete with Hodge and Naivalu with Korobeite to try and get back into the side.

I don't see either a combo of Hodge and DHP or Korobeite and Naivalu being in our best interests.

Definitely seems we'll have a glut of high class wingers and backrowers long term. Now just to build some depth at 10. Quade and DP should hopefully get some game time on the tour.

Kellaway has gone backwards from his initial promising season with the Tahs.

Kellaway is a winger. His lack of form has coincided with a switch to fullback. His skills are in holding his width and having a knack for finding the line a few meters out. Something his game while at fullback he doesn't have the opportunity to do.

That's all right TSR, but with the depth of talent that seems to be coming through lately, I want to see specialists competing for the spots, not just fitting in the excess player(s) from other positions because they are seen to be among the top echelon of players. Put simply, Hodge aside because he is developing in the wing spot and is almost essential for his long range goal kicking, I want the wing spots to be filled by wingers, not No 12s or No 15s who might be considered as more talented rugby players but who have played all their lives in other positions.
