If we are talking ideal 6, surely it should include Kurtley Beale. Leaving aside his personal problem, he's potentially a series winner for us.
Yes he is in the process of confronting some personal issues but that doesn't mean he cant play great footy. We witnessed that first hand when he returned to the Rebels last month. After that game I think most people were certain he'd be involved in the series. In my view his situation really hasn't changed at all since then. The ARU have made the right decision by handling him with kid gloves, but that doesn't mean he's made of china. It seems like half the posters on this board think they are Doctors, Magistrates and psychiatrists, who "know what's best" for young Kurtley. I'd prefer to leave that assessment to the professionals rather than public opinion.
If the ARU and Kurtley's support network feel he's ready to get out there then I say good luck to him. Moreover, if Kurtley feels good and wants to play, he should. Rugby is obviously a very big part of who he is and, like many athletes, he probably feels best when he's out there performing.
I actually think Beale's current circumstances should have him in great condition going into the Lions Series. He's apparently fit and off the booze, which is a welcome change from the beginning of the 2012 test season.
