Wallabies 2025

Joe Blow

John Hipwell (52)
He's started 5 tests at 10 in his life....

I swear I don't get why Donaldson gets this much hate. The last 3 Wallabies coaches all picked him, he was one of our best performers at the World Cup and he's had 2 good Super seasons in a row
He does not have the ticker. Both Lolesio and Lynagh commit and put their bodies on line…..too often it seems. Lynagh is a much better all around player than Donaldson but is very young. If we are getting smashed up front Donaldson is not the cool head we need.
Having said that I expect Donaldson to start the first test with Lynagh on the bench. JOC (James O'Connor) will be the third option.

Would guess we'd likely start with Dono and JOC (James O'Connor) on the bench. Allows us to go 6-2 if we wanted with coverage in a number of positions.

Josh Canham comes into the squad in place of Swain. Weird...
Yeah - I see a lot of potential with Canham but I think he has some work to do. I thought Swain had the better season.

Very different types of player so maybe that has something to do with it. But also Swain doesn’t seem able to win Schmidt over.

If JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) is fit to play against Lions why don't you put on some weight with Kerevi and Koroibete??? Australia don't have a wrecking ball in the backline

I think the perception is that both are past their prime and wouldn't add anything over and above other candidates. For me Kerevi doesn't have the acceleration he used to have and Marika didn't play that well when more recently picked for the Wallabies.

And JOC (James O'Connor) hasn't even been a starter in the last Super Rugby. He would be a good assistant coach than a player

Kerevi is 31 and Koro is 32. Meanwhile JOC (James O'Connor) is 35. It doesn't make sense

All the previous reports have suggested that there would be a 40 player squad named for the Lions.

I wonder whether Ross, Swain, Edmed and one other join the Wallabies after the game in Adelaide on Saturday?
That makes sense for Ross and Edmed, but would suggest Salakaia-Loto or Phillip over Swain (if we're after an extra lock) given Swain isn't in that squad.

Those positions do make sense given the injuries we're carrying and the guys in the AuNZ squad though, and I'd probably expect a back rower (Samu/Uru) or a Hooker (BPA) as the 4th, with Valetini and Porecki the other guys carrying injuries in. Arguably a halfback would also make sense if Gordon is iffy, but if that was the case I would've though Lonergan was straight in, given he's also not with the AuNZ side.

Marika played fine. Never understood why he was singled out in a series of very poor Wallaby performances.

Probably because the gap between Marika's fine and Marika's best is monstrous compared to others. I suspect he tears up the lions tomorrow night and finds himself in Wallabies camp. If he lights it up and they dont pick him for a once in 12 year series that's a poor call. Of course if he's pedestrian then no issues omitting him lol.

We just played a test though and both our wingers looked really good.

I'd be surprised if Schmidt isn't happy with the options he has available.

I find it so hard to read the form of Japan based players. Apparently Foley has been absolutely carving it up, says he's the fittest he's ever been and dominating in a team that's going well. Similar but less effusive praise for Kerevi. Neither can get a look in to the team in areas of weaknesses. Philip has been playing in a dreadful team but comes back in fairly easily in a position of relative strength for the Wallabies. Is it purely because he's signed for next year??
Have you watched the games?

No ticker?

What’s your measurement for that?

It makes perfect sense. We needed another 10 in the squad. Age means SFA and James has recently been an integral part of a successful team and a successful system.
JOC (James O'Connor) now gets a golden chance at Lions redemption. It's a beautiful story. Get on board!
